Wonderful piece of English history... we absolutely loved spending time here! The gift shop is lovely and not over priced at all. The staff were all friendly and we'd love to visit again.
Went to fireworks last night amazing !!
Well preserved castle. We went when there was a display of medieval Knights and it was brilliant. The shop is ok, toilets are fine. Tea shop in the village was good too. We took a picnic and the dog and had a lovely day.
The Castle is fantastically preserved and has many original features. There is lots to explore and the gift shop is not overpriced. We came while the Black Knights did a historical display of weaponry and 'Soldiers through the ages' and they were very knowledgeable and very 'hands on'. A real pleasure :)
Take yourself back 800 years or so then envisage in your minds eye this awesome castle being built. I walked round the moat mindful that people dug it. Also look at the wells and how deep they go, someone actually dug those as well.
My wife and I live about 5 miles from the castle, but have never visited together. I have been once on my own, and she has never been. We both had a great time and were there for about 3 & 1/2 hours.
It's a wonderful castle with lots of things to do and see, with some parts looking as though they hide a secret.
Definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about visiting.
It was amazing to walk through and feel the history the walls of that castle have seen. It was a really fun to see a historic piece of history. The pony rides were so much fun down in the moat. Yes I paid for. Pony ride. I probably won't go back just because 45 minutes there was plenty long and it wouldn't be worth the hour and a half long drive again.
I loved visiting this site with a mix of ruin and restored castle rooms. This was despite the rather disinterested girls at the ticket office who did not offer us information guides or the audio guides that are apparently available to visitors. Even the weather didn't dampen my enthusiasm to see this place
Having visited lots when i was young, I love bowbeing able to spend time here with my castle/knight mad son.. this is truly one of our happy places!!
Had a brilliant time here with my two boys at a medieval re-enactment day. The castle is brilliant to explore and lots of outside space. It has toilets and a great little shop
Great big pile of very old neatly stacked stone all in one place. I've never seen so much old stone, flint and bricks. It's a shame that it doesn't have a roof. Avoid the fudge and biscuits in the gift shop.
Fireworks were amazing !!!! The best I have ever seen ! The funfair was a little small and the queues for food were rather long.
Fantastic day out with our children, aged 7 & 10. We all loved the re-enactments! The staff involved were very helpful and friendly. A fantastic day out that won't break the bank!
Fabulous views. My friend Charlie and i walked around Castle rising with the King's Lynn Ramblers. I recommend it for everyone. Even my dog enjoyed it :D
Brilliant place for all and amazing to stand there and imagine, what the place was like in its pomp.
Beautiful setting. Fantastic castle, although mostly in ruins. Great place to let your imagination run wild. We brought our dog who was allowed everywhere. We wish we'd brought a picnic to eat in the grounds, but there was a lovely tea shop in the village with seats outside. They served amazing sandwiches with loads of filling. Highly recommended.
Absolutely amazing. Can't get over the history of it all.
A fantastic place to spend a few hours then have some tea at the tea rooms over the road.
Lovely place to visit. We really enjoyed our visit a can only recommend it further.
