****Stray Alert BD4*** Mogwi was handed in to us after being picked up by a member of the public from the BD4 area where she has been straying for some time The first picture is from the first time she was in care with us in 2014 and the second picture is how she looked when she was brought in last week - as you can see, she is not in the best condition however we are doing what we can to get her back to where she needs to be. As Mogwi (now called Mavis!) is an ex CP cat she is microchipped however we have had no luck in contacting the owner. If you think this gorgeous girl could be your missing cat, please contact the centre asap on 03000 121505. Please note, proof of ownership will be required.

Meet our cat of the week, Teo. 😻
Teo is a 5 year old friendly, confident and inquisitive boy. He’s a real superstar who just loves to be around people, and although he is being well looked after and pampered here with us, he is desperate to break out and begin his new adventures.
Teo has a history of Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), with stress and anxiety playing an important role in triggering this. Teo arrived in our care due to conflicts with other cats in his previous... household, which is believed to be the primary cause of his FIC. He will need to be on a specialist urinary diet for life to help manage this.
Teo will be need to be the only animal in the household as he just loves to be in the spotlight and have your undivided love and attention all to himself. He would be most suited to an adult only household, or one with older children only. He has previously lived as an indoor cat and taken out on a harness and lead but in a quiet area he may enjoy, but also benefit from, the opportunity to go outside and explore.
Could you be the one to offer Teo his second chance in life? If you would like to know more about Teo and his condition then please give the friendly humans a call on 📞 03000 121 505 and we would be happy to chat with you further or please pop in and visit us, and of course Teo, during our opening hours.
Please help us by sharing this post and, together, let’s help Teo find the home he deserves. ❤️

Erm hellooooo…. Is anyone there?
I'm sure you know me by now? My name is Ambrose and I am so so desperate to find my new home! I have been here now for precisely 120 days watching 123 of my fellow lodgers find their new family 😿
I am a well loved cheeky chappie with a playful streak, I can get overly excited and forget I am not a kitten anymore. You see I grew up on the streets so I didn't have chance to be a baby back then. I spent my time surviving, hunting and protectin...g my patch!
The staff and volunteers here have all got used to my crazy ways and are always saying "you are such a cheeky character Ambrose!" They find my playfulness and grabbing of arms and legs quite amusing, however when the visitors come they don't always do! 😼
So a bit about me then... I am 3 years young, I am fully vaccinated, neutered and chipped. I have FIV which is an Immune virus caught from my life on the streets. This means I need to live indoors either as an only cat or with other FIV cats. I am in good health and love to play, can crack those puzzle feeder thingies like you wouldn't believe! I will even have a snuggle from time to time and am learning that human hands can be kind and loving. I also keep myself nice and clean and use my litter tray like an angel 😸
As I forget I have claws I would be suited to either an adult only home or with older children, ideally with people who know cats and understand there hilarious unpredictable ways 😹
So guys... lets get real.....who wants a cheeky playful loveable rogue like me to make you laugh and love you dearly?
I have heard the people in the blue shirts saying they are going to ship me off to somewhere called London to another centre soon to give me a better chance of finding a indoor home, but I'm not going to lie that sounds like a bit of a treck! Although I've heard a rhyme about a cat visiting the queen?
I'm off now guys to dream of a sunny windowsill and a comfy couch....
If you or anyone you know are looking for an indoor cat then give my people a call, and give this post a share... Cheers Ambrose 😽

Nicki, one of the centre's Senior Cat Care Assistants is walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise vital funds for our centre which will help us to help more cats! Please take a look at Nicki's Just Giving page - The 3 peaks are the three highest mountains in Yorkshire and Nicki, along with her husband, plan to walk them all in just ONE day!! We think she's very brave and are thrilled that she will be supporting Gildersome Cats Protection!
If you can please contribute to Nicki's page and help her smash her fundraising target, we (and our cats!) would really appreciate it! Thank you! https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ni cola-harrison37

Meet our Cat of the Week, Ambrose!
Let us handover to Ambrose himself to tell you why you should consider adopting him!
I am the totally adorable Ambrose, and there is nothing I would love more than to find my own furr-ever home – will you be that special person?
... I have been at Cats Protection Gildersome since March 2019 -in that time I have seen almost 100 other cats come and go, but me… still here… WHY! (92 at the time of writing)
I may be a little special, as I have FIV, but, that doesn’t stop me from being, well, ME! My human slaves at the centre can give you all the details regarding FIV, so why not ask them – and perhaps give me my new furrver home….
Because of the FIV, I need to be an only cat, and also, indoor only
One last thing, sorry… but I am not fond of children. Click "play" to see some of my best photos!
