Piper gazed longingly down the windswept shores of the Fylde coast. After her session with us, she was heading to Blackpool dog show - a biggie in the show world calendar. Watching her, I loved the way the the wind ruffled her fur, mirroring the ripples left behind in the sand. So I decided to get down at her eye level to portray how the elongated coastline reflected her extended Deerhound form. Even though she's a pro at strutting her stuff in the show ring; the look in her eyes at this very moment told me she wanted nothing more than to forget her well mastered elegant trot and let loose into a gallop across the sand. This turned out to be the moment just seconds before she did exactly that!
So even if the last weeks been a long one, take a leaf out of Pipers book this weekend: shake it off and let loose!

The day Meg and Piper came down from Edinburgh for their session was one hell of a busy one! We’d just finished shooting two gorgeous King Charles pups on the beach - they had come to visit us from the opposite end of the country in Oxford. The King Charles pups, along with Meg & Piper were doing a ‘day turn around’ session. This special service is usually reserved for clients like these who are traveling to us from further afield.
So what happens on a day turn around sessio...n? We head out on an adventure together for the session in the morning, then we part ways for the afternoon while I head back and beaver away polishing up the images. These lucky clients have their viewing that very same evening in the studio. If you'd like to find out a bit more about this kind of session for the fur-kid in your life feel free to drop me a message. :-)
As you can imagine I had very sweaty palms that day (and not just from the blissful hot sun beating down on us!) Fortunately every thing went smoother than we could’ve wished for - they all posed like super models!
To my delight, 10 year old Bearded Collie Meg could even do an impeccable sit up and beg. I often feel like it’s cheating when one of the furry subjects in front of my lens is so impeccably trained! Meg was originally from a farm - her Mum used to pass every day and see her chained up outside. Her heart ached for sorry looking Meg, who had essentially been cast aside for not being up to scratch as a sheep dog. Eventually Megs Mum wore the farmer down and adopted her. Now she sits happily watching the farm from the comfort of home with her best friend Piper the Deerhound.
Keep an eye out for a post about Piper tomorrow.

People often ask why it’s dogs I point my lens at in particular. I think there are many animals out there with tons of affection to give but for me the devotion and adoration that comes from dogs is quite unique.
As I sat in the sand in front of Meg I could see unwavering loyalty in her eyes as she gazed up at her Mum. I could tell from that one look that Meg would follow her to the ends of the earth without even a thought of ever leaving her side. She would defend her to the end, comfort her when she was down and rejoice when she was happy.
We may be born in different skin, but dogs and people seem to have a unique connection that scales across the globe. The fondness they have for an individual so physically unlike them is admirable. I think we can learn a lot from dogs, don’t you? ♥

The concrete tunnel that Lexie is balancing on here was so smooth that her little paws kept sliding down closer and closer towards my lens. She stretched out keenly for the treats in my hand, keeping her balance with a mighty grip on the surface. As soon as she snaffled the biscuit from me her little pink tongue poked out of her mouth to gleefully lick her lips with satisfaction!

Happy Valentines Day from beautiful Prague! In cerebration Michael and I are exploring this historic city - you can follow our adventures via the CatsDog stories on Instagram (yes, there will be dogs!) but for now, here’s Remy & Jose having a good ole’ snog! ♥

Looking back at last years calendar I was struck by how blue the sky is in so many of the images, but for the start of this years calendar we’re back to more traditional UK skies (moody and full of mystery!)
Here are six especially selected dogos ready for your vote in our 2020 calendar competition. (Side note - eek! - we’re soon going to be living in the 20’s, how fun!)
So Cat, I hear you asking, how exactly do I vote?
... Simply click the thumbs up button on your favourite image. The one with the most likes will star on the *very first* month for next years calendar - pretty special right?

This weekend I was visited by two of my good friends from down south - both incredible photographers in their own right (check out The Artisan Hound & Bridget Davey Photography to see for yourself.)
So what do dog photographers do when they get together? Head out on an adventure and photograph some dogs of course! One of my favourite places to shoot is Nicky Nook Fell. From the top you can see views from Blackpool Tower, all the way to the Lakes. It's just breathtaking, so u...p the hill we ventured. But on the day Michael and I took the girls up there the thing that was taking our breath away more than anything was the truly Northern icy wind and the SNOW! I was very proud of them both for braving the chill and rolling around in the snow with me like true Brits (we'll overlook the fact that Bridget is originally from Germany! 😆)
This beautiful baby is 7 year old Mastiff Luna. She comes from a household of rescued sheep, pigs, goats Alpacas and various birds, not to mention 6 other dogos! She willingly splayed out on the snow covered ground with me without batting an eyelid at the wind blasting icy droplets towards us as they fell from they sky. Her enthusiasm to power on through the storm aptly matched my own as she posed for 'just one more' shot!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Shelby is in good company when it comes to his love of a bow tie. Michael will be following suit with this fancy fashion trend when we head to the British Photography Awards tonight.
I’m so humbled that one of my images has been shortlisted. The black tie event, held at the London Savoy sounds like it’s going to be *very* fancy, I have butterflies already! 🦋 Fingers crossed can we turn out looking half as dapper as Mr Shelby!

The day I met Marley was one of the hottest of the incredibly hot summer days we had in the UK last year and boy was it a busy day! Before meeting Marley and his two siblings I had already shot at two locations with three gorgeous Italian Spinone’s and a pack of six energetic Husky’s.
As much as I was pretty exhausted by this point, the uplifting blue sky that had stayed with us throughout the day and the joyous energy of the gazillion pooches I’d been adventuring across Lancashire with had rubbed off. After a lap of water from his bowl, Marley willingly hopped up on the stump and waited for further instruction. At the sound of my ridiculous duck whistle his head turned a full 90 degrees in the most heart melting head tilt I have ever seen, and that my friends, is the very moment you are seeing right here!

If you live in the UK, you might remember 2018 as a year of extreme weather - from icy winter down pours to blistering hot summer days. Weather aside, for team CatsDog, it was filled with hundreds of gorgeous pooches with more love to give than I can put into words!
For our Star of the Year 2018 award we've made a small selection of puppers for you to choose from. I'm excited to invite you to vote for the dog(s) you love the most by hitting the thumbs up on their photo. Yeah..., I know, it's a toughie!
Voting closes on the 21st February at 10.30pm and the winner will receive a 7x5" frame showing off their winning image. This special frame will be engraved with the winning dogs name(s) as the CatsDog Star of the year 2018.
I am itching to see who you pick!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At just 4 weeks old this little pupper glimpsed the open sky for the first time, as we cradled him and his siblings in our arms and took them outside one by one. Can you guess what it was they were sat on on to keep them safe and create a cool reflection? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That refection is actually the roof of my car! We carefully wiped it down and popped the pups up there one at a time. Michael, (the master of multitasking) had one of his arms out stretched to keep the p...ups safe and away from the edge while the other masterfully directed our light. Meanwhile I conjured up the strangest of sounds and waggled puppy-kibble above my lens like a crazy person - we were pulling everything we could think of out of the bag to snag their attention for that one split second! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🐶

There were 9 of these spotty bundles of delight in this litter. **NINE!** There’s something very special about Dalmatians. Set apart from the rest with their iconically unique spots, Dally’s are one of my all time favorite breeds (though somehow I ended up with a Chihuahua! 😂) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ When we first met this little cutie and his siblings they were just 4 weeks old. I almost died with cute anger overload at the sight of them all snuggled up together! 😍 This photo session ...was their first trip outside of the cosy barn where they had been born. Although it was mid summer, the night air was starting to cool so we had to be quick with each one as we whisked them outside for their close-up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Can you guess what this little cutie is perched upon for this shot?
Stay tuned... I’ll reveal all in the next post!

OH, STOP IT! Cute anger, I submit! Is it even possible to resist this teeny-tiny bundle of spots?
Now it's your turn! The instant you saw this little cupcake pop up on your screen, you exclaimed… [insert reaction in comments] 🐶

♥ ‘When life gives you lemons… stare down your human until she gives you biscuits.’ -Walter, akita x malamute ♥ Walter was the first doggo to discover this wonderful, moss covered tree stump with us, which has since become a favorite shooting spot of mine. Despite his bum being significantly larger than the stumps surface area, he determinedly laid down on it, pointing himself directly towards the treats being wafted above my lens. He had me sussed, as he perched as prettily ...as a parrot, eyeing up the booty of biscuits in my hand! 🦜 What you can’t see in this photo is my pooch @poppy_pantsface stood directly behind him whispering tips…I sometimes think its the them who trains us… ♥ ♥ #wecanteven #myworld #dogchild #furchild #dspetstyle #abmhappylife #vscodog #animalsco #ruffpost #awwfeed #petsdelight #animaladdicts #nothingisordinary #thatsdarling #pursuepretty #atdogs #mykidshavefourpaws #akitacross #malatutecross #excellent_dogs #igcutest_animals #dog_features #hairofthedogblog #petphotographersclub #cutepetclub #a_dogsworld #lacyandpaws #buzzfeedanimals #dogsofinsta #aww

We had a fabulous day out shooting with my little puppy and Cat and Mike.

It had just snowed and so the pics have come out beautifully - some are genuinely better than my wedding pictures.

The whole day was excellent. Both Cat and Mike are lovely people who had all the patience in the world with my naughty little pup, and had some great ideas on how or where to pose him.

I'm so pleased with the outcome and we can't wait to proudly display Django's pics in our home.

Not only this, but the whole booking experience with Tania was easy and she's a lovely person to have a chat with as well.

If you choose to get pics done of your fur baby I couldn't recommend CatsDogPhotography enough. Thank you Cat and Team

User

The whole experience with the Cat’s Dog team was fab from beginning to end! Everyone is so friendly (don’t answer the phone to Tania unless you have at least half an hour spare to chat!)

We booked our shoot with the hope of creating a surprise gift for my parents... so having borrowed their 2-year-old cockapoo off we went on a (rather noisy!) adventure with Cat & Michael, our own Yorkie (who turned out to be a pro) and the lovely Poppy.

I just knew we’d struggle to choose from all the pictures but we got there! and placed our order, expecting to collect them in 6-8 weeks. Well how impressed was I when in less than 3 they had managed to get our canvases back, just in time for my parents’ shared birthday.

The quality of them is undeniable. My parents are chuffed to bits with their “Lulu” portrait. I find myself admiring ours instead of watching the TV! Special thanks to Cat for her editing magic on my dog’s poorly eye (no one would even know).

Yes, it’s not cheap! But it’s a special one-off experience with your dogs and you come away with something to really treasure.

User

The photography experience was amazing. Cat & Michael were so friendly and great with our greyhounds - even got into the water for us to try and get a shot!. Very helpful and honest when it came to our preview at the studio. The shots were amazing! Highly recommended.

User

The CatsDog Team provide an altogether friendly and memorable experience!! Both at the photo shoot and in the studio for the preview session. Cat is always happy and isn't put off by bad weather during a shoot! the entire team are all really friendly as well as helpful over the phone as well as in person. Thank you all for such a great experience. Would highly recommend and we can't wait to receive our finished product from the shoot. Thank you again.

User

Thankyou to Cat and all her team for an amazing experience with our little dapple dashund Benson, we all had a great time. The whole experience was wonderful. Cat truly cares about what she does and is a very talented, lovely lady. We viewed our pictures on Friday and they are out of this world. Can't wait for our frame to arrive and put it in pride of place for all to see. I would recommend Catsdog to all, they capture the true character of your fur babies and put every effort into making the experience happy and fun for you all. xxxx

User

Stacey and I would like to that Cat and all the fantastic guys at CatsDog photography, you guys are amazing! It’s our second shoot with Cat and for us there was a sad cloud over it all due to one of our fur babies passing literally the day before the original shoot date, but the team out did them selves again and turned it around into the most exciting and happy journey. And with the viewings it was an event for us and made to feel so comfortable, they went above and beyond in everything! We really feel that the photos are a story and a fantastic memory to keep forever! It’s not just a photo of our dog!

Thanks so much team (and for putting up with the hardest people on the planet to organise things with ) we can’t wait to see our new pictures of Norman.

All the best Jon, stacey & Norman xx

Right from the start, meeting Cat and Michael at Crufts, we clicked! Warm and generous, Cat's approach to what she does, her natural curiosity and her skill in capturing great expressions are the perfect combination. Lots of nice details prior to the shoot, including an interactive map showing photos that had been taken in the various locations, and photos of the meeting point for our shoot, allowed us to have a lovely session with lots of variety. I chose 3 beautiful shots and can't wait to see the finished artwork.

User

Our Frankie recently had his photo shoot with Cat and Michael and we all loved it. Frankie was so at ease with both them resulting in some amazing images.

The wonderful images we ordered and the memories of this day will be with us for a lifetime. xxx Thank-You.

I shared a slightly different kind of shoot with Catsdog, I had the pleasure of having the very excitable Cat as my own personal cheer leader on the most special day of my life, my wedding day! The photos speak for themselfes and the whole experience from start to finish was a pleasure (we even managed to sneak some very special fur babies into the hotel for a quick snap ) Cat couldn't be more passionate and dedicated to her work, she made me feel at ease with her fantastic planning and organisation both before and throughout the day. Nothing can distract her from ensuring the best possible results. I highly recommend Catsdog as you will always feel like you are her upmost priority and even in my (very minor) bridezilla moments she took control and keep her head on the task in hand, nothing is too much. I revived everything I asked for and much more than I could have ever immagined. Catsdog really went the extra mile. No one else could ever be as passionate and inspired for each and every shoot. Cats compassion for all people (and fur babies) shines through with each and everything she does. Thank you for an experience we will remember for the rest of our lives. Eternally greatful Mr & Mrs Babbar

I have been meaning to leave a review for a couple of weeks. We got a voucher for Christmas & we booked the photo shoot for February. They were very accommodating, as they do this all the time we went on their recommendation of place to shoot-Sunnhurst Woods. Now the dog, she is a collie she is very much my baby, but follows my husbands lead and he is her master. She is funny about other men & we explained this to Cat & Michael. We brought treats to bribe Penny with (Polos) & gave these to Michael to get him friendly with her, but i honestly dont know if we needed them as he was so good with her & Cat instantly took a shine to her & knew exactly what we hoped to get from the day & shoot. Collies are very skittish & so it took a while & a lot of perseverance from Cat & Michael but by the end of the day Penny was in a pond & Cat was led in it, with Michael wading through, (I think this was the most enjoyable for Penny). The photos we got are AMAZING & honestly i can not thank Cat & Michael enough they captured my baby girl in a way no one else has been able to do, the pictures sum her up & the pictures are going to take pride of place on my wall. Yes its not the cheapest but honestly to get the service we got on the day & for someone to make my skittish collie comfortable & end up with those images I wouldn't change a thing. If you want an amazing experience & if you want quality images to last a lifetime then book with these guys, the passion & quality are flawless

User

I had an absolutely wonderful time at the photoshoot with Jon who was fantastic with my dog, Daisy. The whole hour was so much fun and well worth it.

We had a viewing a few days later with Cat who was an expert (with Poppy) at guiding us through all the images taken and helping us decided which ones to select for a framed photograph.

All the guys involved were incredible friendly and helpful in explaining the process and just making sure we had a good time from the booking process to the photoshoot and on to the viewing.

I would definitely recommend this experience to everyone!!

User

I can't express what a wonderful experience this has been for myself and my husband (who was a little dubious at first!!) We were made to feel so comfortable on the photoshoot, and Cat understood our puppy's behaviour so well he posed with ease!! A week later the photos were ready to be viewed and we were invited for a showing in their amazing studio..along with chocolates and drinks :) Seeing our Hugo captured within these different shots was astounding and actually brought a tear to my eye! It was so hard to choose which one we wanted although after a long discussion with my husband we finally chose our photo. It didn't take long at all for our image to arrive, and after a full unveiling at the studio I was absolutely blown away!! They looked amazing on the screen but the quality of the image along with the frame we chose is unreal! Hugo has piercing blue eyes and you can see every pigment in them. We cannot thank Cat and the team enough and can't wait for our house to be decorated so we can show it off! As others have said, this wasn't just a photoshoot-it was an experience and we will no doubt be staying in touch. Thanks again for everything, we will send a pic when it's up xxx

I LOVE Catsdog Photography 5 Stars all the way from us and my our family. Cat is amazing she and her partner see things you just don't see and they're able to capture your pets personality in a snap. We went to Haigh Hall in Wigan which is a beautiful location if your liking for outdoorsie woodland photos. Yes Cat will admit that she's not the cheapest on the market but oh my word you get what you pay for. She also offers payment plans which is a great idea and you can get exactly what you want instead of working round a budget, which is really hard when you want them all! I settled on 8 photos! 8! That's how good she is, they even made my socially anxious partner feel at ease on the shoot. I honestly can't praise them enough thank you so much for such a great experience on the day, at the viewing and for such a fantastic end product!

User

Had our photoshoot with cat and michael at the weekend both of them were lovely and were both great with our furbabies. Just been to see the photos and blown away with them can't wait to get them up on our wall thank you both so much!

User

Had a photo shoot with Cat, it was a present for my mum. It was a new location for Cat but very familiar for Titch (mums dog). Titch is a dog that knows her own mind and what she likes and dislikes, but Cat had Titch eating out of her hand and made it look so easy.

We had the viewing today, really looked forward to it but Cat made it soooo hard for us to choose the perfect photo as all her photos were great. With her help we narrowed it down to a great set. I can't wait to see my mums face when she sees what a great photo we chose for her.

User

Had a great photo shoot with cat and Michael yesterday, they took some unbelievable pictures of my two westies in loads of of positions that I would never have have dreamed of,viewed them at the studio later that day where cat and Michael sorted out an awesome collection of pictures to frame, looking forward to receiving them, thanks to you both,.the only downside of the day was not getting to meet Tania, had a great laugh with her on the phone .see you next year for another shoot

User

Cat and her team have been great from the very start. From me being super indecisive and not being able to pick a location for the shoot (the shooting location map was very helpful!), to changing the date due to weather and then later the location as well. The shoot itself was wonderful and the pictures look amazing! I had previous negative experience with a different photographer during the viewing and selection session in which we felt forced to make a decision quickly and to spend more than we wanted. None of that with Cat- she was kind, patient, helpful and wanted to ensure we were 100% happy with our selection and no pressure whatsoever.

User

Can't thank you enough Cat, once again you have blown us away!! You have captured some amazing memories of both our fur babies which we will cherish for ever. Thank you also for letting us view Nala's pictures (even though it set Jon off with the tears) it means a lot.

User

A massive thank you to Cat and Mike for a warm welcome on a freezing cold day in February. Not only are the photos incredible, Benson was made to feel like the top dog he is and enjoyed ‘playing’ for the camera. Can’t recommend them enough :)
