Well what another amazing evening at the Cattle Grid Windsor, as usual the food was top notch and the whole place was buzzing.



I was there with my sister Kate Rayner and two friends, Sara and Steve, we were having a meal and a few drinks remembering the memories of our late brother Mark, who sadly lost his battle to cancer three years ago.



Like most places we chatted to the two guys on the table next to us, recommending what food to have, pointing out it was all good quality...! So they were spoilt for choice.



They did admit they had eaten there before and were fully aware of the excellent choices on offer.

What was even more amazing was when we asked for the bill, the waitress informed us the bill had already been settled..!



We finally found that the guys sitting along side us had paid the bill.....who they were, we don't know..!

They refused to let us pay them back informing us that it was their treat.



So guys whoever you are, we would like to thank you for your very kind generosity, from the bottom of our hearts we all say a big THANK YOU.

The ribs were awesome! Fell off the bone and had a delicious sweet and spicy sauce. Very basic styling inside the restaurant but the food does all the talking in here.

Some of the best steak in town. Onion strings are amazing. I am very very full even the next day.

My tour group split off 15 minutes before our tour was scheduled to start, after being in Europe for the past 7 days we were tired of pastries and sweets and we simple minded Americans needed some meat. This place looked perfect, and we were excited to eat there. It was around 1pm ish, prime lunch hour, when we arrived at the Cattle Grid and it was completely empty. This didn't deter us and I'm glad we stayed. Before we even odered, the cook had already put on enough burgers so the wait would be shorter and we explained that we were in a hurry to meet back up with our group. The man was very understanding and even offered to hold the order until we returned if need be, it never came to that as the food was prepared astonishingly quick.

The food tasted amazing and we were all stuffed by the end. In order to get the food to us faster the man explained that he would give us the burgers first and then the fries as they were still cooking rather than plate everything at the same time, he even helped box up anything we hadn't yet finished. We were very grateful and we tipped generously. The man didn't even charge us for the drinks and he was exceptionally kind. If I ever get the chance to return to Windsor, I will promptly eat there again and I hope to see the place a bit more occupied by other customers this time around.

I have been to this place many times over the years (too many times) and I have never had a bad experience, the food & service are always spot on. It's the first place I recommend to people looking for somewhere new to try and they never disappoint!

I had a ribeye steak (cooked perfectly), my partner had ribs, our kids had the childrens burgers. Food was spot on, service was top notch. Cattle grid is one of the 'hidden gems' of Windsor

Hi I’ve been to the Cattle Grid a few times now just on the off chance of getting a table even though we haven’t booked,no problem yet. Food is great best 🍔 ever and the ribs are delicious 😋 will definitely be returning!

Great customer service very friendly girl who served us and helpful. Me and my partner enjoyed a lovely meal which we didn’t have to wait very long for. The most delicious burger i have ever had and he had a steak which was good too. We had refreshing cocktails and we we dined outside.

Food great and was hot, owner and staff very friendly will defo go back. And our son Liam Steeples is on the board as champion chicken wing eater, he ate 73 in one sitting still yet to be beaten .

A great find. Old Mout Cider delicious and crisp. Ribeye perfectly seared medium rare and juice. Poutine was phenomenal. I wish they had this place in California. Would go again if I could

We have been to Cattle Grid Windsor maybe 10 times for special occasions over the last 2 years. We went Saturday 24th February, my husbands 50th Birthday. Last minute decision, booked a table as we got out of the car in Windsor for 1.5 hours later. We ended up only being 1 hour later (artic weather!) and surprisingly they had reserved our table from our call. And the restaurant was packed it was the only table left ! Very very busy Saturday lunchtime ! Very thankful for that. We usually order the same meals ; philly cheese steaks, ribeye steak and hamburger all with super sweet potato fries, with a side of half rack of ribs and salt and pepper wings. All the food was spot on this time, the ribs are a something else ! Have no fear just dive in ! Quite a wait for food but ok to wait for food cooked to order in a very busy lunchtime. Drinks are more expensive than your usual restaurant but not excessive at all. Now, the service, this time it was perfectly acceptable, other times indifferent, and even as far as not acceptable at all in the past. Not sure why, something that needs addressing from management down maybe, or further training even. It hasn't stopped us from going, and it won't, we just have low expectations of service now. We are going for the food, not the place or ambience lol (cafe like design) or the service. Go with an open mind and empty belly !! Thanks

I popped in today for lunch with two friends and I have to say that the food was fantastic. The lunch menu is brilliant value and the atmosphere is great. The only thing I'd say that needs to be improved slightly is the service but other than that its a great place with fabulous food and I'd definitely recommend and visit again.

Food was well cooked and tasty, husband's steak was beautifully cooked and he said it was the best he had tasted in a long time. Bit pricey but worth it. Service was polite and efficient and place was very clean would recommend

9-06-18 , A very nice sitting in the railway st , wife had a steak and I had the full rack of ribs which were lovely with the spicey sauce but that’s all you had so you had to build your meal up which did cost .The bill came over £50+in which a service charge came to £55 +.No mention of the service charge was on the actual menu,But on the cattle grid website it says no hidden service or cover charge means that we can deliver a straightforward dining experience ringing you great tasting food at the best possible price.I think someone is breaking the law but I would be happy to return as I enjoyed the meal very much.

The cattle grid is one of our favourite places to go . The food is great fresh and hot . I love the sweet potato fries ( hot and crispy) I tend to go for the ribs which have the most amazing flavour . My husband tends to get the steak which is beautifully tender . We normally get the crispy onions strings but on this occasion the were soggy . A great place to eat

Food was absolutely lovely. We had the buffalo wings with blue cheese sauce for starter, Brie and caramelised onion burger which was amazing. Unfortunately service was non existent. We had to grab someone's attention to order drinks, food and a second round of drinks. No check back was completed on starters or mains. For this reason we didn't pay the discretionary service charge.
