Living nearby makes this my favourite eatery at the moment. The managers are top notch and the food is so moreish!! I’m addicted to one of the dishes but won’t say which one in case it sells out before I get there

User

Just had the most amazing meal at media city! Fish tacos are to die for and the steak was just as good as Gaucho with many more sides on offer but to top it off was the amazing service we got from Macarana! This girl deserves a bonus! Her service was impeccable. We will definitely be returning. Thanks guys x

User

I attended tonight for my birthday. The steak turned up atleast medium and I ordered rare. They jumped into action and changed it straight away. The service has been amazing. They went above and beyond for my birthday. I would always come back. Thank you so much to the best member of your team albiou . I have never had better service than he has given us tonight

User

Great service from all staff from start to finish, with equally great knowledge of their menu. Tender and well cooked steak. Sides were all delicious too. we all had desserts and tried a bit of each and there was no food envy there either as they where all as delicious as the other. Thank you guys it was a wonderful visit for a Birthday occasion.

User

Excellent restaurant. Highly recommend. My husband had 400gm steak which was cooked to perfection. Staff exceeding friendly but not “in your face”. Definitely would eat there again. Oh and the candy Floss topped apple pie cheesecake was just out of this world.

User

Service was good. Starters fine. Rib eye was good, but more fat on it than I would expect for the price and was very rare in the middle. Still a tasty steak and good value for London in a prime location.

User

Great ingredients, cooked with odd cuts and recipe. I didn't recognise most of the items in the menu. Is it my fault having lived 30 years in that country, or is the menu just "too fusion". Anyhow, stuff tastes great, just be prepared for many surprises (as in WTF is THAT?).

User

Amazingly good food - the restaurant is always busy and can get quite noisy, but if you love a good steak you won't be disappointed here. Not quite up to the standards of its more expensive sister restaurant Gaucho, but extremely good nonetheless and good value with the mid-week deals.

User

We went for dinner to CAU and both had rump steak (mine was medium size and my husband had large). Both were perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. My husband's was £19.95 and came with chips (and he ordered peas for an extra £2.95). I ordered a side salad with mine. I was very disappointed with the salad as it was just a selection of green leaves and half a cherry tomato in a very small dish. For £15.95 for the medium steak with a salad I expected a far better side salad to go with it (eg bits of pepper, cucumber, onion, celery which are not expensive this time of year). Even a prepared £1 salad from Tesco beats the side salad I had at CAU so go for the chips option. I had to steal my husband's peas. The cocktails were nice though as was dessert but both expensive for what we got. The waiter serving us was polite and helpful although service a little slow. The restaurant was clean. A service charge of 12.5% was automatically added to the bill (making the total nearly £90 for two of us). We went to CAU in Cambridge which was lovely so chose CAU St Catherine's dock based on this however, I think I would choose another restaurant if we return to this area of London. There are better places to eat for the amount of money we spent.

User

Such a shame the staff really let this restaurant down. Having recently visited your Bath restaurant where we found the service to be really good, we decided to visit the St Katherine Dock restaurant. We had to ask for our order to be taken after waiting a considerable amount of time. Five more minutes and we would have left and gone to a diferent restaurant. The staff were far too busy chatting behind the bar and customers were obviously an inconvenience to them.

We refused to pay the service charge as did the adjoining table. They were not asked if they wanted drinks and their sauces turned up at the end of their meal. It's such a shame as the food is really good but they really do need to recruit people who are prepared to serve customers and are competent at their job.

User

Popped in for drinks before our meal we had booked nearby. Was seated very quickly, order was taken for our cocktails, but did take a rather long time for them to arrive, considering it was only 6.30pm. Must say it was worth the wait, the Lemon Meringue Pie cocktail was delicious

User

Generally good but a few things let down our visit. Colleagues medium rare steak was more raw in places so returned for a 2nd go. Better when returned. Service was slow, waited 15 mins for dessert after ordering. It was busy but it would be with the location. Aside from that was good and and well priced especially when the desserts were on the house for waiting so long. Full marks for recognising and making the concession. Can thoroughly recommend the 'fat chips'.

User

Our first time and have to say will be our Last. Things started off badly when the waiter got our drinks order wrong and brought my sister gin and tonic rather than just tonic water. Then when our food arrived - a burger and a steak, they were cold. We sent them back and when they came back the second time they were barely any hotter. When we got the bill we were charged for two peppercorn sauces for my steak. When we queried this the waiter said it was because I had poured the first sauce over my steak before sending it back - well that was prior to me eating it so at that point I didn't know it was cold!! He seemed reluctant to take one sauce off the bill but then did even though WE had to ask him. He left the service charge on which we refused to pay and when we asked the female matre d' to remove the service charge, she did and our waiter seemed to be arguing over this with her. His whole demeanor and lack of customer care totally ruined the experience for us.

At no point did any of the staff offer to take any money off our bill. They only did so after we asked them. V v disappointed with it all. Won't be coming back. By contrast our breakfast and whole experience at the Cafe Rouge in St Katherine 's Dock literally just a few feet away was far better. They could definitely teach CAU a thing or two

User

Food decent - when it came.. first they forgot our starters, brought our mains, so asked where starters were as had waited ages ! so then the starter came - was average, the main course came again after and all seemed luke warm like they had put it on the side as had forgotten the starters. Meat was good, phew, but sides and sauce for meat cold, sent them back and they were happy to replace and not charge us for them but really... how difficult is it to put through an order for 2. Appreciate the apology and discount but it was an anniversary dinner :-( Poor service overall shame as a nice restaurant and Cau Wimbledon so much better.

User

Booked in advance for sons 18th on recommendation from friend. Told them occasion but no member of staff mentioned good wishes to my son. Steak excellent (as we were told) but portions small, service slow and staff got our drinks order wrong 3 times out of 3! Unlikely to return, shame as the setting/restaurant lovely.

User

Waited over one hour for our food. When it eventually came, it was burnt and poorly presented. Terrible service. Terrible food. Spoke to the manager and told him we were not paying which he agreed to. Lovely location but would opt for one of the many other restaurants down there.

User

Cold food. Was offered replacement but had already waited ages. Last visit really good. This time not so. I suspect my steak (which was cooked to medium to well done, when I asked for rare) was left on the side for too long. In fact, I think I passed it when I went to the loo and waited another 10 minutes until delivery. Steak meant to be Lomito. Well I took a pic from my last visit and it looked nothing like it. And was fatty.

Note I didn't get offer to reduce price and still had the 'optional' 12.5% 'service' added. £65 for what I had was a rip off. That is for me - not for two..!

The first time I went there I had money off as all was too long to arrive. Decided to give another go and was fantastic. Last night, very poor. Seems to fluctuate.

User

Booked for my sons stag night, 25 of us and it was disastrous. Waiter cdnt converse properly, it took just under 2 hrs to get our starter and even then some were missing. Steaks arrived after, I ordered medium well done and got given a rare! This was the case for various others plus some got there chips 10 mins after the steak arrived. We have up with puddings and got the bill! Won't be returning as we didn't even get an apology, staff were polite on entry but simply couldn't cope

User

Booked Cau as a surprise for my husband on our first wedding anniversary and his birthday and was really excited as it was my first visit to Cau. Reserved in advance giving details of the reason for visiting. We were greeted and seated promptly, but that's where the service ended. Upon being seated the waiter asked whether it was our first time at the restaurant, we replied saying it was for me but my husband had been before a while back. The waiter responded by saying that my husband could explain how the menu worked and then the waiter walked off whilst we were mid response.

The waitress took nearly 15 minutes to come to ask for our drinks and order, did not say hello, ask how we were etc. She was very short with us, and did not even smile and really put a dampener on our celebratory evening - really killed the atmosphere. We received the starter before drinks, having to chase another waitress for the drinks (I could see them on the bar for nearly 10 minutes). No apology when the drinks were finally brought after 30 minutes from first sitting down.

Then, mains arrived before starter plates had been cleared. Our waitress held out the mains plates, did not say a word and made us clear our own starter plates to the side. Did not offer any new cutlery or extra drinks, and walked off before my husband could ask for some sauces.

As the service was so terrible, we asked for the bill and did not stop for dessert. After waiting 15 minutes for the waitress to come and take payment (which she didn't) - we got up and had to find another waiter to ask to pay.

Overall, food was good but service was terrible, and we will avoid this restaurant - will not be recommending to any of our friends.

Considering it was a very special celebration for our first wedding anniversary and a birthday, which I notified them of in advance, there was no recognition or effort made by any of the staff which you would normally receive at any other restaurant. We informed the manager at the end of the meal about our experience and he apologised and was told that we would be contacted the next morning, but this has not happened. However, as our experience was so poor, we do not have confidence that they will actually call!
