Cavendish Arms, Cartmel Description
We are , located in the picturesque village of Cartmel, with quaint low beamed ceilings, a wealth of antique furniture and a blazing log fire.
We serve excellent British food using the finest of local produce, wines and traditional beers and ales. With friendly relaxed service and very comfortable rooms you will find yourself drifting away into Cartmel’s perfectly laid back way of life. This charming retreat also has a fine restaurant where you can dine by candlelight.
We now have three more brand new luxury double rooms with en-suite bathrooms in the heart of Cartmel village square above our new design-led gift shop, Perfect English.
All the rooms have been restored to an exceptionally high standard and retain much of the character of the original building with oak beamed ceilings. And if you like a piece of the antique country furniture in the rooms you can buy a piece to take home! You can relax outside the Cavendish with a chilled drink or speciality coffee and watch the world go by, or sit beside the babbling river Esk.

One of our favourite places to stay, relax, eat and drink. We’ve been 3 times now and fall in love with place every time we go back. The cosy and tastefully styled rooms are always lovely both in summer and winter. The food is outstanding, we discovered the red pepper and tomato soup this time an it was stunning!
We both love this place so that during our latest stay (1-4th June) I chose to propose to my now fiancé during our wonderful evening meal. It was perfect!
Thanks for helping us keep on creating such memorable moments. We’ll be back again soon.

Me & my husband had a beautiful meal last night 23/06/18. Staff are so friendly & attentive. Lovely atmosphere. Spoilt for choice, varied menu. Camembert to share for starters, I had steak pie, my husband had lamb. By far the best place in Cartmel.
Lovely bar/restaurant in Cartmel. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Excellent breakfasts, lunch and dinner. Good range of local produce in a varied and interesting menu - vegetarian and vegan items included.
It doesn't get any better than here. Immaculate rooms, fabulous surroundings and incredible food which is only surpassed by the service and the attention to detail from the owner. I will definitely be returning
