Jo and Hoddles set off today on the ultimate dog walk. 186 miles of the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastal path, camping along the way. By the time they cross the finishing line, we will have ascended more than the height of Everest ! https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ho dandjosadventure …

"Talking to her literally changed my life and brought me out of a deep depression. Even when I had a meltdown during this time, talking to her again saved me."
Did you know Cavendish Cancer Care runs a Cancer Buddies scheme? Our Cancer Buddies are a group of trained volunteers who have either had cancer themselves or have cared for someone with cancer. Because they have been in a similar situation, they can understand what it is like to deal with a cancer diagnosis as a patient or as a partner or family member. Talking to someone who 'gets it', and who will listen without judgement, can be life-changing.
If you'd like to find out more about becoming a buddy, or having one yourself, contact Hilary on h.nugent@cavcare.org.uk.

Can you help, our friends at Jane Tomlinson's Run For All have been in touch. They have been let down by a team of volunteers who would usually volunteer at the baggage drop off/pick up area. No Experience necessary, No heavy lifting required. Volunteers can be under 18 if accompanied by an adult. This is a vital role for smooth running of the race. If you would be willing to help from 7.30 on Sunday 23rd September please drop a line to jonny@cavcare.org.uk it would be very much appreciated.

Cavendish have discovered a new hobby! Over the last few months we've had a brilliant time playing crown green bowls at Nether Edge Bowling Club, with our friends at Mackenzie Spencer. The tournament has raised a grand total of £500 (and our Trusts Manager Mike even made it to the finals!)
A huge thank you to Matt, Chris and Sam for making this event happen, and to everyone who came to bowl with us. And well done to Jonathan and Nick from Yorkshire Bank for their win!

"The NHS is full of deeply caring people but their priority has to be dealing with the ‘mechanics’ of treatment. With cancer, anxiety and stress are commonplace, if not universal. If Cavendish were not there, people would simply have nowhere to go." Phil
Anxiety is an extremely common reaction to cancer diagnosis. Thankfully, we can help. Call 0114 278 4600 and we'll see you within five working days.

What a wonderful place filled with the most lovely people. An oasis when your world is thrown into turmoil by a cancer diagnosis in the family. Thank you so much for your amazing work x

User

Supported my son who was diagnosed with liver cancer at 32 and myself through the initial shock and gave us some hope and strategies to deal with it. My son asked me to go but our care was separate . Such lovely people in calm surroundings ! Nothing too much trouble !! A very vulnerable time for all!

Couldn’t have managed without their support and know they are there to support us still. We can’t do marathons etc but try to raise money by having a collection box and raising awareness through the year - coffee mornings, making cakes and donating money. Have been supported by our local pub The Miners Arms - Such a worthy cause fir which we send our most grateful thanks

My Partner was diagnosed with Cancer in late December and due to complications with his Chemo we almost lost him, but thanks to the Intensive Care Unit he pulled through. I've struggled in many ways watching my Partner go through all this, but thanks to all the loving, caring and supportive people at Cavendish House i'm getting through it aswell. This is a fantastic place, everyone involved do an amazing job and we are lucky to have this available to us. Thank you to everyone at Cavendish for all that you do.
