very nice hotel with excellent choice of food from breakfast to evening meals - the staff are marvellous and can't do enough for you. We particularly liked Margaret - she was so efficient and king. The only minus was the room - the window was very old and it could do with the hotel being double glazed. And the hot water in the sink came out boiling hot!!!! But otherwise OK for the price!!!

WeвҖҷve just had a lovely weekend starting here for my uncles wedding. A lovely hotel, wonderful staff, great food! The kids had a brilliant time in both pools and on the playground, and games room. Will definitely be returning!

User

We had our wedding reception in the Ballroom here. We had an absolutely amazing time as did all our guests. We transformed the ballroom with decorations and a LED dancefloor and it looked fantastic. It is a blank canvas. The hotel staff were great, James was lovely, so helpful and organised in the lead up to our event. Its not the Ritz, yes our hotel room was a bit run down but our family room was huge and suited our needs perfectly. All in all it was fantastic, there was nothing we couldnвҖҷt do, so we had the perfect wedding party! Thanks for everything. Kind regards, Mr & Mrs Marshall

User

We had a lovely weekend here. Balcony room was perfect for when josh had gone to bed and I could sit with a drink listening to the music. Staff were brilliant. Room was spotless. Breakfast was good and the indoor pool wore him out! Already planning our next visit! Thanks team!

Stayed here 2 nights with my fiancee and 2 kids and I have to say what a lovely hotel and the staff were very friendly and had great customer service. Great food as we ate in the restaurant both evenings, great disco for the kids and games room and movie night. The indoor and outdoor pool was fab and we all enjoyed and will definitely be back again. Thanks so much.

User

Staff went above and beyond and was so child friendly. Will be returning without a doubt. Thank you x

Just back from 4 nights at the Cavendish , I feel it's unfair to complain about the heat as we were there in the heatwave! The staff at this hotel are amazing and deserve the highest praise. Nothing was too much trouble . My single room was tiny and very hot but I spent very little time in it and was given an electric fan from reception , my bed was very comfortable. The kitchen cooler generator was somewhat noisy in the night but understandable in the heat and essential to keep the refrigerators operating!

The corridors were a little narrow with a wheelchair , but otherwise disabled access was good .

The hotel being part of a group has everything to offer, fab pool, bars , evening entertainment, bingo all very enjoyable, typical of a traditional seaside holiday . It even has its own ten pin bowling alley!

The food and service was very good with plenty of choice in a spacious dining room.

The only thing that I can fault is the lifts , they are small and need replacing/ updating and sound and act like a malfunctioning robot , the only way to cope is too laugh !

The hotel is obviously old and needs some updating and refurbishment, which is in process , no one can expect it to all happen at once, major task in a hotel of this size!

We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return next year!

It's the staff and service that make a good hotel , well done all!

Will start off with the positives 1st... Large free car park, Heated indoor and outdoor pools not used the indoor pool as it's small, outdoor pool better even had it to myself sometimes and a jacuzzi as well, tea/coffee facilities in room, Good buffet breakfast,Friendly staff. Now the negatives... Not enough plugs in room only had a single room so not sure about other rooms but mine only had 2 plugs one of those was for the small TV and the other for the kettle so had to unplug kettle to charge phone and use laptop room need more plugs,Entertainment poor went to other surrounding hotels for evening entertainment that was much better, Doors to room slam shut and you can't close them quietly I tried, Toilet outdated needs updating, Happy hour not worth bothering with only get ВЈ1 off normal price of beer which is ВЈ3.50 expected happy hour to be 'buy one get one free' don't think I would come back again as surrounding hotels much better.

The room was so hot we couldn't sleep the window wouldn't open so that we couldn't get any fresh air. At 7 o'clock in the morning on Sunday we were awoken by water coming through the bathroom ceiling and all the lights went out on the whole floor reported it to the reception and he tried to investigate the problem but couldn't find out where the water was coming from eventually we were shown to another room on the same floor but still had no lights. We were also told there would be some entertainment on Saturday night but there wasn't any same with the films on the big screen and all there was music from one of the the sky channels ,to cap it all we weren't even offered a discount for all our troubles so I don't think we will be going back to the Cavendish

I Booked this for my Daughter to stay with her Boyfriend to celebrate her 30th Birthday. I wanted it to be really special and asked for a really nice room. I spoke to two Members of staff as well as emailing too and My Daughter and Boyfriend were moved from one room to what I was told was a better room out of the two. I find this very hard to believe considering I'd read past reviews and that particular room they were in seems very unpopular described as Attic Room.

And the Bathroom Floor in that Room is uneven and in need of replacing. Plus there's an awful smell throughout the Corridors in Hotel too.

My PREGNANT Daughter and her Boyfriend said they were Baking in that Room as so Very Hot and Can't open Windows as Seagulls sit outside on Window Ledge. My Daughter had one sat outside their Window

for some time. Therefore Hotel in desperate need of Air Conditioning and from reading reviews this is opinion of quite a few.

They said the Staff supplied them with a Fan which helped a Bit but they were still very Hot.

They said apart from the awful Room the Staff are very Friendly and always polite. Food was nice but would've liked more variety.

A good hotel near the centre of Torquay. En-Suite room ok. The only gripe I have is the poor shower, low pressure and either scalding hot or ice cold, very difficult and time consuming to get the temperature right. Will ask for a decent shower next time. Easy, free car parking at the hotel, which is much better than other hotels in the area. 15 min walk along seafront to town centre pubs and nightlife.

User

overpriced for the style of room you get our room had no hot water for the first night both me and my husband spent the whole time sneezing probably due to dust and the old carpets. I'm not a serial complainer and my motto is a bed is a bed but this was just awful. The bed was rock hard may as well of slept on the floor!!! Breakfast charged at ВЈ8 each the cooked food was nice but the crossiants were rock hard orange juice wasn't cold so for ВЈ8 each was disappointed. Our window in room didn't shut properly. On plus side very friendly staff .

User

Was hired by friends for their wedding party and after arriving was told their guests could not use the car park!!! Then they had no beer on tap in the hall hired so had to trapes upstairs and through the hotel to another bar to get drinks, would NOT recommend for parties, can't comment on accommodation as we live local so never stayed.

User

Very outdated hotel dirty looking wallpaper everywhere on the way to our room one corridor smelt like cats wee room had wallpaper hanging off and looked damp shower was very small and did not work very well to hot or to cold when you thought it was ok it would change temperature again

User

The mattress was very hard and lumpy. You could feel the coils digging into you. I had to ask for an extra blanket so I could sleep on top of the douvet. The curtains were useless as they let in all the light, not nice at the early hours of the morning. The tables have at breakfast was dusty.

User

To say I was disappointed is an understatement. What an absolute shambles. Very outdated and dirty. The room, which was a double, was pokey and depressing. Hardly any room. The wardrobe was crammed in one corner, with a set of drawers put in front of it, so only one door opened, between my partner and myself, we struggled to get our clothes in there. The furniture was really grubby, with one side of the wardrobe door coming off its hinges. We stayed on a friday evening, when, unfortunately, the 'entertainment' is put on. Our room was situated directly above this room, it was so loud, we couldn't hear the tv, let alone sleep. The following day, we were in our room, when a random blonde woman unlocked our door and barged in. She was not dressed like a member of staff and was really shocked to see us in there. We complained in reception about this, but the guy didn't seem bothered by it, and didn't want the other guests to hear. It was so awful, we paid for 2 nights, but only stuck it out for one. Wouldn't stay in this dingy, disgusting hovel again if you paid me. A disgrace.

User

This Place is absolutely without a doubt a horrible place to stay at any price and here is why:

. A complete run down dump

. Terrible shower (no pressure)

. Very Loud and noisy

. No parking availability

. Phone broke

. TV broke

. Extremely overpriced

.

Stir clear!
