On Tuesday 15th of December we'll be visiting British artist, Haroon Mirza's studio in North London for a discussion centred around his current practice, interest in collaboration and plans for 2016.
Haroon Mirza devises kinetic sculptures, performances and immersive installations which test the interplay and friction between sound and light waves and electric current. He describes his role as a composer, manipulating electricity to make it dance to a different tune. Mirza as...ks us to reconsider the perceptual distinctions between noise, sound and music, and draws into question the categorisation of cultural forms. "All music is organised sound or organised noise," he says. "So as long as you’re organising acoustic material, it’s just the perception and the context that defines it as music or noise or sound or just a nuisance."
His work was recently featured at the Barbican's 'Station to Station' exhibition (29th June - 2nd July 2015) and the Frieze Sculpture Park (14 - 17 October 2015). This event is in conjunction with the Whitechapel Gallery Patrons and Lisson Gallery.
