About Ccri Legacy Programme

Investment in infrastructure assets and networks is critical to building more resilient and sustainable economies and societies, especially as climate change impacts challenge the integrity of infrastructure systems. Despite progress in understanding physical impacts of climate change, two key challenges remain: How do market participants quantify the benefits of climate-resilient processes, and how do they widely adopt improved processes when investing in infrastructure projects? To tackle these challenges, there must be a global and collaborative approach, driven by the shared goals of improving transparency and standardising definitions, terminologies, and use cases. Deeper analysis that leverages climate data should lead to better decisions and infrastructure that withstands the physical impacts of climate change. In 2019 Coalition for Climate Resilient Investment (CCRI) was launched at the UN Secretary General's Climate Action Summit as a private sector–led initiative supporting investors and governments to better understand and manage physical climate risks. Over the past four years CCRI has grown to 131 members representing over US$28tn in assets, including institutional investors, banks, insurers, the State of California, and governments of the UK, Canada, Australia and Jamaica. Having outgrown its original platform, CCRI is now transitioning to longer-term hosting arrangements so that its innovative programmes can be given the specialist support required for maximising their long-term success and impact. The Global Infrastructure Hub (GI Hub) is intended to continue the robust legacy of the initiative as its Secretariat, a role focused on supporting, convening and coordination of legacy partners. The programmes of CCRI will be delivered by legacy partners that include the GI Hub, Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC), and multilateral development banks.
