Dementia Engagement and Empowerment Project (DEEP) is the UK network of dementia voices. We are pleased to announce a group has been set up for the Crewe community and we are encouraging people with dementia and their carers to attend.
DEEP meetings will take place every 3rd Tuesday of every month. The first DEEP meeting of 2020 will be held on 21st January at Alexandra Stadium, Gresty Road, Crewe, CW2 6EB 13.30pm.
DEEP aims to encourage friendships, reduce isolation, givi...ng people a voice, helping people to connect to others, feel needed and supported in our community by people that understand.
DEEP is: • A UK wide network – it connects groups to each other to magnify the views, hopes and intentions of people with dementia. It supports groups to share learning and skills and to increase confidence • Independent – the network belongs to the groups themselves, not to any particular dementia service or organisation • Diverse – it is made up of groups strongly rooted in their local communities, including some in care homes • Rights based – it encourages groups to identify and speak out about the issues that are important to them (not only to be ‘consulted’ about issues that are important to others)

There are currently 31 public payphones in the Cheshire East area, which have been identified and proposed for removal by BT under the 90-day consultation process.
To ensure that the local community are fully informed, consultation notices have been placed on the relevant payphones. The consultation period will close on 18 December 2019.
This consultation process gives your local communities the opportunity to adopt a traditional red ‘heritage’ phone box and make it an asse...t that local people can enjoy. It’s really simple to do and it costs just £1 - https://business.bt.com/campaig…/commun ities/adopt-a-kiosk/…
Cheshire East Council would like to collate your view and need to do so by Friday 29th November. Can you please do the following:
• If the decision is that the local community wish to ‘adopt’, please provide their contact details and we’ll do the rest. • If you wish to ‘object’, you’ll need to complete the last column with your reasons, having reviewed all of the factors set out in Annex 1 of Ofcom’s guidance (see link above), and the information sent to you in our previous letter. • If the information is incomplete for any payphone in the list, then we’ll assume you have no objection to its removal and also that you do not wish to adopt it.
Please send your responses to Partnerships@cheshireeast.gov.uk by Friday 29th November

Do you volunteer for a community group, youth group, or are you attached to the scout/guiding organisation?
Do you sit on a committee that makes decisions about fire safety?
Do you hire out rooms you are responsible for to groups through a booking process?
... If so...this event is for you!
This free event is looking into the legal responsibilities under The (fire safety) Order 2005 that you will have under "The Order " when arranging an event, activity or fundraiser. A common mistake found when auditing premises are inappropriate fire risk assessments for the hire of a room other than its main purpose. This includes church/community halls, schools out of hours and corporate buildings.
We will be providing advice and guidance on how to safely plan these events and the actions to consider by those involved. This will include discussions and workshops on the following • Fire risk assessments • Calculating room capacity • Sleep overs.
