Celbius has a long history and expertise in bioprocessing, a technology field that has undergone rapid growth in recent years for enabling low cost green manufacture of chemicals. Bioprocessing, which includes fermentation, enzyme chemistry and extraction, eliminates the use of toxic reagents, uses fewer harmful solvents and less energy. Celbius achieves a higher level of performance in bioprocessing by employing ultrasound, representing a unique technology combination. The company has a laboratory facility near Cambridge in the UK where the principle founder Steve Taylor is employed. Celbius has a number of core activities and projects based on sonic bioprocessing for manufacture of products in the consumer and chemicals sector. It is currently developing a range of natural products using sonic assisted extraction and biocatalysis, including plant pigments for cosmetics, bioactive additives for animal feed and horticultural products.
