About Cellar Door

Imagine 30's Berlin meets New York basement Dive

Cellar Door Description

Previously the most infamous gents in Theatreland, reputedly the haunt of Wilde, Orton, Gielgud & Crisp, and now London's cult cabaret venue. CellarDoor is secreted beneath the Aldwych in a space just big enough for cats (both feline & human) to swing. We're open until 1am nightly with free live acts from 9pm. We serve exquisite cocktails, bubbles, wine & beer along with naughty lines of both black & white snuff.

CellarDoor is a 1930's Berlin meets New York speakeasy style bar. We are looking for a temporary fallen angel to help us out until 1st January. Must be flexible with working days/times and have a bubbly personality!

Went on a Wednesday night to see The Antidisestablishment Club with Joe Morose, great fun. Wicked wit and a potty mouth that a navvy would be proud of. You cannot beat this charming venue, great drinks and superb entertainment. Is it one of London's best kept secrets?

User

We came on a Disney Bound hen do. It was amazing I've fallen in love. The staff were fabulous the afternoon tea was yummy the burlesque was stunning and Ivy Paige was totally fabulous. I will definitely be back xx oh and I was fascinated with the toilet doors

User

Visited yesterday early evening for the very first time along with 4 friends. Yes, it's small, but that's what's appealing about it. A cool and quirky bar in a great location. The bar staff sold it for me. Cheerful, polite and friendly without it being forced. Service was very quick indeed and there is an awesome selection of drinks 🍹I'll definitely be back and will recommend this place to friends x

User

Visited for the first time yesterday on the recommendation of a friend from London and loved it. Will is a great bartender. The drinks were excellent and the popcorn tasty.

This is one of my absolute top fun spots in London. Little bigger than a living room (in fact, it used to be a public toilet in another life), it packs a world of wonders: naughty cabaret, drag shows, magic performances, live music, vintage films, the world's only vodka-hating cocktail master, a magician who makes a living creating cocktail flavours for e-cigarette fluid (the infamous Dr. John), a see-through toilet door (try to solve that issue when you're there!) - and free popcorn, to your heart's satisfaction! It is quite literally an underground world of its own. I've always dropped in randomly, and have brought in friends from all over the planet - not once did we not get more than we could have ever expected. You have not experienced what London is really all about if you haven't spent an evening in this den of sin :) P.S.: Don't be shy, it guarantees that you will end up as part of the show.

User

The wife and I went here and loved it nice staff even better cocktails some people saying that it's a bit pricey but a tenner or so for a cocktail in the heart of London is not so bad and you get your moneys worth as they are strong.great singer a tad crazy but very funny will be back for sure

User

Service with a smile as soon as we walked in. The cocktails were incredibly tasty and made by the friendly Barman. The waitress was so helpful and gave us the run down on all the specials. The atmosphere and vibe was just superb.

User

Quirky little place, went on recommendation and loved it. Small but great atmosphere with live music. My partner loved the black and white bondage clips played in the background

User

My family took me on a Day in London trip . Found it changed a wee bit from MY Days.

To finish the day I found myself dancing at the Cellar Door. DJ was delighted to announce that I was the dancing Queen at 83 .wonderful finish to perfect day.

User

Me and my girlfriend popped in randomly for a few cocktails after the lion king, Thinking a bit of music in the background would be nice. I think it's fair to say we got more than we went for What a pleasant surprise. Absolutely amazing! Made our night.

User

Can i sit down: you have to mark your spot a limited places to sit and even more so when the music starts

Misc: toilet doors are made of glass , close the latch for a surprise.

Summary: great venue and good entertainment get in early

User

Just had the most fabulous afternoon at the Cellar Door. Hilarious compare vicious delicious, burlesque girls were beautiful and classy. Fun bit of blackjack with Pierre . It was My husbands 40th birthday and the staff made a real fuss of him. Excellent service. Loved it!

User

I was advised to get there before 8pm to get a guaranteed table as the club was very small. My partner and I were the only people there for an hour and a half as it was his bday, we had a few drinks and the staff were friendly, we were ready to go but then a few Groups entered. I’m glad we stayed as Michael the drag queen was incredible and so was Sarah his pianist. The cocktails were amazing as was the interaction with Micheal and the crowd. I’m glad we stayed, I sang Cher and S club all the way back to our hotel. Micheal is there every third Monday, check him out.

User

Great little place for a quirky, fun night out. Thank you to Angel for helping me with my tickets 👍

User

Fantastic venue for celebrating! We went for my Hen Party, great way to spend an afternoon.

Friendly artists with an excellent repertoire. Great food and drinks!

We also booked a Burlesque lesson beforehand which was wonderful!

A group of 4 ladies...Hi tea and tease afternoon yesterday...great fun...great staff..croupier was brilliant. Singer was fab ...just wish there had been more actual burlesque dancing...only 2 songs, so max of 10 mns all afternoon. Maybe there's more burlesque in the evenings? Nonetheless we had a fab afternoon. Tea was good too. Oh...and the toilets!!

User

Went late on a weeknight, so there was no wait, no crowd, and mellow lounge music being performed, which was perfect for my last night in the city. Glad to find a place where I could sit and relax, and experience something different (for me, at least). Everyone's already mentioned the high drink prices, but they are tasty. I felt a little invisible at first, but I kind of enjoyed it as well.
