Central Insurance was founded in 1989 by the Yates family who had worked in the insurance industry since the 1960s. Using the wealth of experience gained in the industry both with Prudential and in the Brokerage sector. Starting with one corner office on Central Drive in Blackpool, the business grew to occupy the two neighbouring properties by 2003 and in 2010 the Commercial Department moved to the new Head Office on a brand new business park on the outskirts of Blackpool.

In July 2017, Central Insurance was purchased by KBD Associates Ltd and relocated to picturesque offices on the historic Stanley Park lands in Blackpool.
