Centre For Education Economics

About Centre For Education Economics

The Centre for Education Economics was an independent think tank working to improve policy and practice in education through impartial economic research. The Centre existed for the study of education reform – to research and disseminate evidence addressed to how to improve the quality and efficiency of education services; achieve optimal outcomes for young people; and maximise the benefits of education to society as a whole. Education economics is not a widely understood discipline. In general, although economics and data is increasingly at the heart of policy-making, the most crucial and basic economic ideas rarely make it into the wider education policy discussion. CfEE sought to improve understanding of its role, and to invest in efforts to better communicate the important and often exciting emerging findings from this field. The Centre published a monthly research digest, together with books and in-depth policy studies, which in turn informed policy briefings, comment pieces on day-to-day education policy matters, and an engaging events programme popular among policy-makers and influencers in the field. CfEE hosted a variety of events throughout the year, probably the most influential of which was its executives' policy forum - an established and influential forum for executive-level decision-makers and policy influencers in K-12, further and higher education, with over 60 different organisations represented at its meetings.
