Our History. . .

During the British rule, Bahawalpur was a state of the Punjab in what is now Pakistan. It was founded by Bahadur Khan II in 1690 which was the era of the Nawabs. Nawab Mohammad Bahawal Khan III signed the states firsy treaty with the British in 1833 guaranteeing the independence of the Nawab. The state which is located 420km south of Lahore acceded to Pakistan on 7th October 1947 and was merged into the province of West Pakistan in 1955. Stretching along the Sutlej, Bahawalpur was a very unique state with its architectural Palaces and Forts amongst its heritage to date.

Still under British rule, more towns and agricultural villages started emerging along the River Sutlej. The villages that were along the River Sutlej were called Chak and numbered hence the name Chak 89. The owners who were born in Chak 89 are today the inspiration behind Chak 89 restaurant and banqueting. With its natural beauty and agricultural land the village still has history to its heritage by having the name Chak 89 on its village sign post.

Chak 89 opened in 2003 as a venue for 200 people. In 2005 it expanded to create a bigger hall to accommodate 450 people and a 70 seater Restaurant serving the ultimate in Indian Cuisine. In 2006 it increased the size of the restaurant to seat 150 and more recently has had a complete revamp making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy 'a spice above the rest' experience.

2009 saw Chak 89 expand its outside catering business and can now offer a wide selection of venues for your special event. Alongside this Chak 89 also offers full event management leaving you to enjoy yourself whilst we do all the hard work. This includes weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, special screenings and musical performances to name a few. If you want your event to be a truly memorable experience then Chak 89 is for you.

well its been 7 years since we had my daughter wedding. The service back then was very good, most accommodating and willing to please,Nagotionts for the event was smooth, no complication. Food was excellent service was outstanding. As of now i have no idea because this was seven years ago.

User

What a fantastic little gem, the food was fabulous all the staff were great and it certainly made for an awesome night with friends and can not wait to return for another delicious meal.

User

Went last night, had booked for a group of 28. Which they accommodated easily. The staff were attentive and helpful and gave little ones little surprises which was a nice touch. Food was lovely and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you very much Chris and the other lovely man with the glasses. (Didn't get his name)

User

Went last night for a friends 40th birthday and was the best Indian meal I have ever had. Food and drinks were second to none - it you haven't been here then go -you won't be disappointed

User

The service was friendly, polite and very efficient. The lady who was our waitress was very polite and attentive. Food was really tasty and perfectly spiced. We had a mixture of veg and non veg meals and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. When we received the bill, we were pleasantly surprised at the cost - it was excellent value for money. We had a similar sized meal at Imperial Lounge in Croydon a few weeks before and paid ┬Ż40 more! We now know where we will be coming in future.

User

The hype I'd heard about this place is justified. Can't fault the staff and service here. The menu (food and drink) is inventive, and they certainly deliver on quality!

User

I'm big curry fan, this has to one of my favourite places. I would highly recommend this place. If you haven't been yet your missing out. Great ’┐Į food and great cocktails ’┐Į...

User

I was very sceptical when I arrived but I have to say that it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The bar and restaurant was amazing and the staff were so lovely. The decor was beautiful and I had a lovely evening with my family and would highly recommend this venue ...

User

Had an excellent, fun evening, the food and staff cannot be beaten. We have been using Chak89 for years and have introduced quite a few people to it, who have also absolutely loved the placed as much as myself and my family do.

User

Great place delicious food , very attentive staff and generous and caring management. Perfect venue for a family celebration. Atmosphere and ambience is such that all dinners respect and appreciate each other in a friendly manner. Nothing is too much trouble. You are all treated in the same manner as the many celebrities who regularly go there.

User

Food was fabulous. A few problems with the electrics last nice, the management went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable with the air conditioning not working. He went out and bought and put together loads of fans. After our meal, he also went and brought enough magnum ice creams for everyone dining in the restaurant. Can not fault the food or service in any way! Oh, the cocktail menu is fabulous too. I shall definitely be returning very soon.

User

First time amazing food fantastic and waiting staff will come back highly recommend

User

First class venue, first class food and first class staff, love it here, canŌĆÖt recommend enough if you want a proper curry ’┐Į

We had a great time with my extended family! A 'surprise' send off party for a young one going to Oxbridge!

The starters, Curry's and main's were great and a pleasant surprise was the bill averaging ┬Ż12 per head! Most of us had either at least 1 drink each either alcoholic or passion juice too.

Good evening

I have been a big advocate for your restaurant over the years telling everyone how great your food is.

I have visited your restaurant several times and have been blown away by your food so imagine my disappointment with the delivered food I ordered from you tonight via uber eats.

It was very average and not up to the standard I have grown to expect from you.

I never leave half of a curry meal but tonight my wife and I could not finish our meal despite being very hungry, half was thrown away.

WhatŌĆÖs happened?

Even though we are local to you I cannot imagine that we will be ordering from you again and if the standard in your restaurant is now the same I will not be popping in for a meal any time soon.

So disappointed.

Too much spice.

Chicken tikka masala more like a korma with lots of cream for some reason.

Nan bread very dry.

poppadom soft and not crispy.

Onion bahjis tasted burnt.

we attended a meet and greet show for movie. We experienced the worst staff ever . Firstly parking attendant was extremely rude and wouldn't let us park

Inside despite the fact we had a three months old baby while then he was letting other people who came to attend the show park inside . Inside the banqueting hall their security staff were equally rude . I think they definitely need some polite staff as none our group of about 9 people will ever go back to Chuck 89.

User

l just had a take away for 2 delivered.

Delivered almost too quickly....

Good sized portions.

However, the food was poor.

The Kashmiri Rogan Josh was described as slow cooked tender lamb but was like overcooked mutton.....chewy, chewy, chewy :O(

The peshwari Naan bread was flat and dense....under baked or badly made.

Onion and Spinach bhajis seemed overcooked.

The Sag Aloo wasn't bad.

The steamed rice was fine.

Not impressed.

Disappointed.

Not even half eaten.

Not again.

We booked our table at chak 89 yesterday. When we got to the car park. A very rude man approaches us asking if we had come for the Resturant. We said yes. He very rudely raising his eye brows asked us to park at the other side as this area was for wedding loading. Not welcoming at all, The outside was not great. The site is very ordinary and gives an effect of a warehouse. Like what you see in their ads on tv nothing like that was there. Anyways it's getting better. We got upstairs and there was no one to attend us because there was party on and the staff was more busy clapping and taking pics for that family. When we were asked to come for the table. We were given a table in the corner where the waiters were keeping busy serving food and was their kitchen area. We wanted to sit on round tables which had the sofas around them. We were told that they can't give us those tables because they were reserved. We said we have also booked our tables so why can't we sit on them. The waiters said we don't mind but you need to speak to the manager. When the manger comes he says sorry we can't let you sit on those tables because they are for celebrities. We were like what do you means. He says actually we have someone coming down today. So please sit somewhere else. Which is a complete lie because he did not know the name of anyone who was coming. My husband literally started walking out but I stopped him and this did not made any difference to the manger. Anyways. We ordered the food. Believe me I'm not making up this up. If you know your food and have some sense of quality and taste you will not visit this place again as I will not. The onion Bhaji was heavy and full of oil, amirtsari fish had a weird uncooked garm flour taste, kebabs were taste less and chicken tikka was bland. No flavours and no presentation. For the mains we had butter chicken which was flavour less, okra masala was bad with big chunks of onions and lamb Karahi was absolutely terrible. By this time I was highly disappointed. I did not want to try the sweet but my husband wanted some because after the firey mains he wanted something sweet. We clearly said we would like mild food. The waiter said all curry sauces are pre made so we can't reduce anything. For sweet we had kulfi and ras malai. For kulfi they added whipped cream both did not go well. Rasmalai was very good ¤æŹ¤Å╝. You must be surprised that how come I said something is good but the only thing which made me pay was the rasmalai. Other thn that the entire food was low quality and I did not expect that from chak 89 because the way they advertise it looks like that's a top class restaurant with quality service. The waiter who attended us was very polite, friendly and ready to help. Actually his service made us Order the mains. The celebrity which was suppose to come, he was not even a cleb he was a family member of someone. What kind of service is this. All this time none of celebrities showed up. All this time all the three round tables were kept empty and no one was allowed to sit there ¤śĢ. On the way back when we asked the manger where is the celebrity who was suppose to come. He says oh they just cancelled. They could not come due to their personal things. Means for someone special you will let down your customers. What I figured out is that chak 89 either offer free food to celebrities so they can get fame or maybe these celebrities don't have taste buds and they don't know food quality. How can shahrukh khan, saif ali, hrithik roshan and all these people he has the pics on his stairs don't know what is good quality food? Anyways I'm not going there again to waste my money and would suggest you to think twice before going. I swear this is not a made up feed back. When you book your table ask for round sofa tables because this is what we were asked to do if we wish to visit them again. I highly doubt it ¤æÄ¤Å╗¤æÄ¤Å╗¤æÄ¤Å╗¤æÄ¤Å╗¤æÄ¤Å╗ ¤żó¤żó¤żó¤żó¤żó¤żó
