Are you needing help with assistive technology for your son/daughter with a hearing impairment?
The National Deaf Children's Society offers a technology test drive service so that you can practice using equipment and see if it would be useful for your child before you consider buying it.

Still lots of work to be done with managing patients with learning disabilities in our NHS, but hopefully this is a little progress in the right direction.

As we start another year, it's important to remember about YOU and looking after yourself.
Anyone can become a carer and carers come from all walks of life, all cultures and can be any age.
Many feel that they're doing what anyone would do in the same situation; caring for a mother, father, wife, husband, son, daughter or best friend, for example.
... However, being a carer can be challenging, stressful and hard work physically and mentally.
Take a look at some ideas here for your health and wellbeing.

What do social care and health staff need to know and do to support people with autism?
Skills for Health, Skills for Care, the National Autistic Society and Opening Minds Training and Consultancy Ltd are working together to develop a ‘core capabilities framework’ about autism. This framework will say what staff need to know and do, so that they have the right skills and knowledge to support autistic people properly. They are focusing on social care and health workers and als...o staff in other public services. The framework will think about autistic adults, children and young people; people of all ages.
To start this there is a clear requirement to talk to people with autism, families of autistic people, and staff who support them, and so 10 focus groups are running in January 2019. If you want to get involved, find out more and book your place here:
https://www.skillsforcare.org.uk/…/What -do-staff-need-to-kn…
The sessions will be on;
■14th January in Bristol
■21st January in Sheffield
■23rd January in London
■28th January in Sale near Manchester
■29th January in Birmingham
■The morning sessions (10.00-12.30) are for paid staff who support autistic people. These could be people who work in social care, health or any other public services who need to make their service more useful to autistic people.
■The afternoon sessions (13.15-15.45) are for people with lived experience of autism. This means autistic people and family and friends of people with autism.
Some people might have lived experience and also work in a role that supports autistic people – you can choose to attend one or both of the sessions.
Please feel free to share this with people you know who might want to attend.
If you can’t come to a group or prefer to be involved in another way you can register here; http://www.skillsforhealth.org.uk/…/714 -autism-core-capabil… and you will be asked to comment on a draft framework once the work has started.
