Picturing Prince: Q&A with photographer Steve Parkes Spend the afternoon with Prince’s former art director Steve Parke, who will be hosting a Q&A talk followed by a book signing. This is a breath of fresh air. A relaxing environment to browse a wonderful selection of books, a warm welcome from a superb, friendly team and an ideal selection of teas, coffee and fabulous cakes! Gluten free and vegans, you're in for a treat especially. This is what a bookshop should be about...creative, inspiring and comfortable. Just brilliant.

Really lovely atmosphere & great cheery staff. Great place to sit, chill and read/study or to meet friends to catch up over tea and cake. Not surprised it gets busy real quick!

Lovely place, beautiful live music, a little bit of a get away from busy life in the middle of Manchester. I’d recommend it to anyone who needs a break from the surrounding city rush. Also the best chai I’ve had so far.

I love this place come all the way from wigan for a relax lovely mandarin rose tea and delicious cake.

I give this place 5 stars for the coffee alone. The friendly staff and the atmosphere here make it a shame that there are only 5 stars in the rating scheme. I've also eaten the pancakes for breakfast in the past which are amazing too. I love this place. I'd recommend it to anybody who needs to take some time out from a busy day. I used to have a different favourite tea room but this fast became my new favourite due to how well spread out the seating is. There is plenty of room to wander round, looking at books, and it isn't noisy even when busy. I love the water feature. Nice tea, yummy cakes, friendly staff...but where did the savoury menu go? There was a choice of three sandwich (croissant) fillings, but nothing else, yesterday. I think it would be doing itself a great disservice if it decides to only serve cakes.

Hi, just wanted to get in touch regarding my visit yesterday. I have been on a number of occasions for tea/cake and have never failed to be impressed! However yesterday I was left feeling dissatisfied; I brought my baby daughter along for the first time and asked if there are baby change facilities, I was told there is not, and so I joked that perhaps I’d have to change her on the floor and the member of staff just agreed! You have a large toilet space so surely the installation of a wall mounted drop down changer wouldn’t be too much trouble? Secondly, it was absolutely freezing in the shop yesterday, with no heating on, I had to leave with feet like ice blocks. Overall yesterday’s visit has regrettably not encouraged me to return.

The worst customer service I have ever received. Avoid @chapteronebooks at all costs. I made a reservation for 19 people and received an email confirmation from the regional manager. When we arrived they were incredibly rude, had not reserved a table and when I asked to speak to the manager I was told “he’s finished work so won’t speak to you after hours” (this was said while another member of staff spoke to him on the phone). Thanks Liam and all the team at chapter one books. You give independent manchester businesses a bad name. Avoid at all costs @manchestereveningnews @eatingupmanchester @eatmcr @mcrconfidential @visitmanchester @manchester
