About Charterhouse In Southwark

Charterhouse in Southwark was founded as 'The Charterhouse Mission' in 1885 by Old Carthusians of Charterhouse School, located at 40 Tabard Street where First Missioner JG Curry also lived with his family. Since issuing our first grant in 2010, we have funded over £600, 000 worth of work to Southwark-based charities. We have always worked closely with The Charterhouse and Charterhouse School. We offer a biennial Scholarship to a child from Southwark to attend The Charterhouse Sixth For, one of Britain's leading independent schools. We're committed to improving the lives of less fortunate children and through the use of sport, art, theatre and other disciplines, teaching simple life skills for the future. The charities we fund have taught children how and why to appreciate and respect one another and how to work well in a team, which are all invaluable life skills.
