For Children’s Mental Health week, we decided to talk about our feelings, using our Persona Dolls as a focus. We discussed feelings, showing a range of emotions through play and our story ‘The Colour Monster’. The children used the playdough and loose parts to represent the different feelings. A lot of the children said how they loved “dancing, jumping and singing” so we planned activities to “make them happy”. The children loved the yoga session, copying a range of movement 🧘‍♀️ 🧘‍♂️ . Also the obstacle course to reunite Philly and Colly, the persona dolls, discussing positional language and demonstrating a range of movements. This week we have focused on Philly and Colly and their cultural activities before finishing off with Valentines Day ❤️

A huge THANK YOU to the digital leaders at Cheadle Primary School for sharing ‘Smartie the Penguins’ story of how to keep safe on the internet , as part of E-Safety Week 💻 The children were all able to tell us that they would ask their, “Mummy, Daddy, a grown up”, for help if they were stuck on the computer or tablets. The children really enjoyed the colouring activity after and can’t wait to take them home. Thank you ❤️

Hygiene week 🧼 🦷 🛁 🤚🏼 🧽 The children have loved the range of experiences this week, to develop their understanding of how to keep themselves clean and safe from germs 🦠 They have been focusing on; handwashing, looking after their teeth, talking about germs and how to catch their coughs and sneezes.
Sensory play 🎨 🤚🏼 ... It is an important part of a child’s development to learn through their senses, especially at such a young age, as the senses play a huge part throughout everyday life. The Cubs have loved; the edible paint, sensory bottles, sensory felt shapes, bubbles and jelly play.
Lots of Learning, Laughter and Lots of Love ❤️

Chinese New Year 🧧 🐉 The children have loved acting out their restaurant experiences with their friends in our Chinese Restaurant. We have developed our fine motor skills, using scissors, glue spreaders and our pincer grasp to create lanterns. The children loved making the gluten free fortune cookies, 🥠 to ensure all of their friends could enjoy them, as they shared them at snack time. They went down very well 😍 The children enjoyed their Forest School session, looking for ...winter in the environment by testing their predictions of how to keep warm outside. The children then collected sticks to use to create our own Chinese blossom trees 🌸 The children have listened to Chinese music, copied the sounds with the instruments and moved like the Chinese Lion Dance. We also introduced the children to simple phrases in Chinese and the symbols that represent the numbers. Another busy week of Learning, Laughter and Lots of Love ❤️

WINTER ❄️ The Pandas love to learn through their interests, so during circle time we always take into account the children’s ideas and these help to inform the planning. The children said how they love to play; “outdoors, on the board, with my friends, painting”. Taking the children’s ideas into account, along with parent planning and next steps the practitioners plan the topics/theme activities. The children learn new skills and extend their ideas through play, alongside their friends and practitioners. The learning, laughter and lots of love continues this week with Chinese New Year 🧧 🐉 ❤️

Welcome back to all of our children and their families 😆 also to all of our new starters, who have settled in beautifully 😍
The children in the Bears Room will be having their Forest School sessions on Wednesdays for this half term, ‘Wellie Wednesdays’, so can you please bring your children with wellies and a warm coat as we will try and venture out as much as possible.
❄️ WINTER ❄️ ... The children have started their first week of ‘Winter’ with lots of fun, craft, messy and sensory activities. They have loved exploring the sensory tray, listening to the themed stories and developing their fine motor skills with the tweezer and peg printing. The Winter activities will continue throughout the next few weeks. The learning, laughter and lots of love continues ❤️❤️

IT’S CHRISTMASSSSSSS 🎄🎅🏼⭐️🎉🥳❤️ Firstly a huge thank you to our cook Katie, who cooked our delicious Christmas Lunch on Wednesday. The children (and staff 😆) absolutely loved it 😍.
Another big thank you to Cheadle Primary school for inviting us to your Christmas party. The children had the best time, playing with the balloons, party games, dancing and sharing some delicious treats with all of the school children. 🎉
... Thank you to all those who came along to our Christmas Carols last night 🎶 Thank you to Carol for our tasty treats, they soon disappeared 🧁🍪. We were so engrossed we forgot to take photos of the children singing, so we captured them spending some time with their loved ones after 🥰
And finally a huge THANK YOU to all of our parents for your continued support throughout the year. We love seeing your children grow and develop into their individual little characters, through learning, laughter and lots of love. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ❤️❤️

We’ve had a fantastic, festive, few weeks here at Cheadle Kindergarten. We have been learning about all things Christmas, discussing the nativity - Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus aiding our vocabulary with gold, frankincense and myrrh - gifted to baby Jesus from the 3 wisemen. We’ve been completing lots of Christmas themed arts and crafts too 🎅🏻🎄such as decorating Christmas cards, creating annual calendars and creating different decorations. Today we’ve thoroughly enjoyed wearin...g our festive knits to participate in Christmas Jumper day. Some of the children from the Panda Room have been to visit Moorlands Home Link this morning so perform a carol concert before giving each of the residents a Christmas card. We’ve had lots of festive fun these last few weeks, with lots more planned next week for the last full week before the Christmas holidays! The children are welcome to attend nursery next week in their Christmas/festive clothes too! 💚 We can’t wait for another fun and exciting week here at Cheadle Kindergarten, have a lovely weekend.

Nursery Rhyme Week 🎶 The children LOVED the nursery rhyme theme. They all engaged in a range of play based learning activities, planned through their interests and the daily rhyme. Throughout the week the children touched on all areas of the EYFS. From birth to 4 the children developed their skills through; imitating actions, moving their whole bodies to sounds they enjoy, joining in with vocalisations and singing a few familiar songs 🥚 🐘 🐒 🐍 🕷 🦆 🐟

‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’ 🐑 The first rhyme to start our week of nursery rhymes 🎶🎵 The children have enjoyed a range of activities based around the rhyme and the children in the Bears 🐻 and been learning the rhyme in makaton 🤚🏼. The children have picked this up very well and I’m sure they’d be very eager to show you 💫❤️

Children in Need ❤️ A huge thank you to everyone for your participation, all of the children looked brilliant in their pyjamas and spots! The children have loved celebrating Children in Need! The children have gained a good understanding of the charity and why we were raising money, “for the poorly boys and girls”. The children have loved baking cakes and decorating them with colourful spots. Matching pom-poms to the correct number of spots. Finger painting Pudsey’s bandage,... Pudsey collages and an edible Pudsey sensory tray! The children have had a great week, developing their understanding of two great celebrations, Remembrance Day and Children in Need, while learning through play 😆 The ‘guess the sweets in the jar’ will be drawn Monday morning and we will announce the winner and the amount raised. 💫😆❤️
