had looked into cloth pads previously through other websites and got really confused about what I needed and what was right for my cycle. I really recommend filling in the questionnaire before purchasing - this helped me realise I didn't need to buy a truck load of reusable cloth pads alongside what my needs were! I also went back and forth with additional queries that were answered no problem. This really gave me the confidence that what I was purchasing was correct – this, ...to me is another factor that sets Cheeky Wipes apart from their competition.
I purchased a set of period pants and a mixed set of pads (Bamboo Minky) and a few additional liners as I use pantyliners each day outside of my period. My order arrived part way through my period so I put them straight to the test. The period pants were fab - a real revelation. I was worried they'd be 'bulky' but they weren't, they feel just like normal pants but super absorbent! The cloth pads also don't feel bulky – I used to wear thicker disposable pads and the cloth pads are by far more comfortable. Since my purchase I've had another cycle so have used them throughout a whole period now too.
On my heavier days I double up with a cloth pad and period pants, however so far have had minimal if any leaks from the pad onto the period pants. When using disposable pads on my heavier days I would inevitably leak a bit onto my pants regardless of how frequently I changed my pads. The pads also feel more comfortable against me than a disposable pad and despite one incident I find the pads stay in place well. They also feel quite breathable compared to disposable pads which I found a bit 'sweaty'. Wear cloth pads with tighter fitting pants - which I know seems to go against normal conventions when on your period, but it really helps keep the pads in place.
As others have said size down for the period pants (lace top) - they will still appear a bit big to look at but think that's more the style or for me the style compared to my normal pants. Like other reviewers I found that I had to use fewer cloth pads than I would disposable pads – they really are absorbent! I would also ordinarily use 'long' disposable pads to ensure coverage/leak protection. However, with cloth pads (I appreciate this may a) sound odd b) be unique to me) I found my flow only ever went in a more forward direction, so I was no longer reliant on the night pad length during the day. I assume this is because of the materials of the cloth pad compared to a disposable pad? Either way it's made confident in the protection the cloth pads will provide during my cycle. I'm so glad I've made the change and with the help of the questionnaire have found the right combination of cloth pads/period pants for my cycle.

Let‚Äôs talk Dettol . Lots of us will have used this spray at some point in our lives. It‚Äôs a particular favourite when you have babies and small children . I was impressed when I saw an advert about their new refills and how they used 70% less plastic in comparison to the bottles... . Then I looked into it a bit more and felt like facepalming . Let me break it down for you . The new refill pouch (unlike the bottle) cannot be recycled with other household plastics. It can only be recycled through the TerraCycle UK scheme . On the website, it gives details of where to find one near you, or set up your own . So I looked at the map that came up for the rb scheme (swipe right to see it) and there, on the map, are the current locations you can take the refill pouch to . None in Scotland or Northern Ireland at all . So I clicked the link to sign up for the scheme and have one local to me. There‚Äôs a waitlist, so no new drop offs can be added at the moment . So Dettol have taken a plastic bottle that could be recycled at home and brought in a pouch to refil that plastic bottle, that can only be recycled at a very small number of places. (Do you see where I‚Äôm going with this?) so all those plastic pouches that they‚Äôre making, are more than likely going to go into a bin and end up in landfill . FFS, it‚Äôs not rocket science guys. I am a normal person and I feel like I could be paid less than the ‚Äúgeniuses‚Äù that come up with this tosh and provide better solutions . The last list on the photos is how recyclable all the Dettol products are and it‚Äôs their new ones, that are going to be the most wasteful! ü§¶ü躂Äç‚ôÄÔ∏èüò±ü§¶ü躂Äç‚ôÄÔ∏èüò ±ü§¶ü躂Äç‚ôÄÔ∏è . . . . . #plasticisnotfantastic #recycle #recycledplastic #dettol #ohdear #savetheearth #savetheseas #reducereuserecyle #terracycleuk @terracycleuk #makelaundrynotlandfill #washnotwaste #ecoliving #ecofriendlyparenting #ethicalliving #cleaningobsessed #cleanliness #weneedanewplan #planetearth #cheekywipes #fatbergfree

LACE TOP PERIOD PANTS - to be precise. “I have now used these undies for 2 cycles! I will be buying more! I use them for night time wear as I always find sanitary pads uncomfortable in bed and dont use tampons/menstrual cup. . One night I put them on before bed and left them on while I had a looooong lie in, they must have been on for over 12 hours on a medium flow, and there was no leakage at all! I cannot recommend these enough! I bought the 10-12 and I'm usually a 12 and ...they fit lovely! they come up far at the back and not too far at the front (they're not high waisted). . The material reminds me of a swimming costume and has that kind of feel and sound if you were to rub them. They're good for front-bleeders too, no leakage there either! I would like to wear these in the day time too but want to wait til I have more first so i can change throughout the day. I rinse mine under the cold tap and squeeze them til the water runs clear, then put them in with my normal 30° wash (no fabric softener). . They take a while to dry, probably because of all the layers inside, so you will need more than 1 or 2 if you want to use them the same as me and rotate them throuhout the week. . Honestly, these are a lifesaver for my night times and they allow you to be more lazy than you would with a pad I think, in terms of how long you can go before you need to change them. 10/10!” . Thanks to Katie Phillips for this wonderful review . If you’ve not tried our period pants yet, what’s stopping you?

We are all about the #flexappeal . In 2007, (when 37 weeks pregnant with her 3rd child) Helen launched Cheeky Wipes . “The business is run to fit in with childcare and holidays. I understand the pressure of being a working mum and having to manage a full-time job with picking up children and being around in the holidays”... . The company now has 6 employees. Helen at the helm, with Claire, Claire, Sharon & Josh at the warehouse in Seaford. Jo is in charge of customer service & works remotely from home in St Albans. Heidi helps with admin and finances and works from home. . 2 freelancers - Ness 💁🏼‍♀️in York, who runs the social media side & answers period questionnaires alongside Erika, a friend of Helen in Seaford . Then there are the temp staff who help in the warehouse; Bev, Cheryl, Vicky, Sam, & Sophie. . All the team, apart from Josh & Sophie are parents too. Sophie is Sharon’s daughter. A real family affair! . Flexibility works. Cheeky Wipes saw its turnover double from £690,000 in 2017 to £1.3 million in 2018. You can’t argue with those figures . Link to article in our bio

Recently, I’ve seen the most ludicrous campaign from Pampers promoting something called the #cheektest . Now, I am not bashing people who use disposable nappies. They’re not for everyone. The issue here is that they are asking people to take 2 clean nappies. One is their nappy the other a different brand (I imagine you have to buy these nappies to do this too. So pointless buying of nappies here as well) Pour 200ml is water into each nappy and then rub them on your cheeks to... see which is the softest and driest . COME ON PAMPERS . This is the most unbelievable promotion of unnecessary plastic waste. What are you thinking? To all those sharing this #ad too. Have a word with yourselves, was that money really worth promoting landfill waste? . So here I am, saggy boobs and all, showing how soft our bamboo period pads and makeup pads are. Natural fibres, chemical free, plastic free and washable. The #cheekytest is ON! . It’s Jo! Always ready with a smile and can tell you ANYTHING you would like to know about our Cheeky Wipes products . Jo first introduced me to Cheeky Wipes and Helen almost 9 years ago when the brand was in its infancy. Those wipes were the best purchase I made. They saw me through both boys, 4 years apart and now I use their period protection, the make up wipes and (obviously) have joined the team too. . Come and say hi today and tomorrow at The Baby Show, Birmingham (@th...ebabyshow) and see how to make some easy, sustainable changes to your lives . . . . . . . .

Many disposable pads and tampons contain little bits of plastic that’ll still be hanging around in 500-800 years from now . One estimate says that the average person will throw out 300 pounds of period products during a lifetime .
