Following a clinical review meeting in the practice the doctors no longer prescribe medication to delay a menstrual period for lifestyle reasons. (Norithisterone)
Practice policy is that it can only be prescribed under direction of a Gynaecoligist when someone is under their care and not for the reason stated above.
There is now clinical guidance advising of an increased risk of DVT. (Deep Vein Thrombosis) and so the doctors at the practice no longer prescribe this for life...style reasons such as going on holiday and wanting to postpone a period.
Where a Gynaecologist requests for the GP to prescribe it for a clinical reason this will continue under the Consultants direction. The Consultant will then be monitoring the use of this medication.

All of our patients are assigned a usual GP. Please note that if you particularly wish to see your own doctor then sometimes there are longer waits than usual and wait times can vary. All of the doctors hold a list of patient numbers calculated in accordance with how many sessions they work each week.
There are times when demand for appointments increases for example school holidays, winter and when there are outbreaks of acute problems such as flu or chest infections.
Durin...g these times wait times can fluctuate and should you particularly wish to see your own doctor then sometimes there are longer waits. We do hope our patients understand why this can occur.
If you feel you need to be seen sooner then you can be seen by another GP when your own isn't available or you can be seen in the extended access hub for routine appointments recently announced on our page. Extended access offers appointments in the evening and at weekends.
If it is a same day medically urgent matter then we do offer emergency slots where our doctors will add you to their fully booked list to ensure you are seen. This is not an appointment system you will be informed of when to present to the surgery to sit and wait to be fitted in. Some doctors may speak to you on the phone first and reception will transfer you.
The extended access hub does not offer emergency access or walk in. It is by appointment only by calling our reception.
Please see the types of appointments we have available on our website.
