HUGE Thank you to everyone in A&E who looked after my Mum's broken wrist this afternoon. Couldn't have asked for better care.

CITIZENS GUARD

A&E, our lives in their hands…………..and how do we say thank you,



Many years ago, whilst running my own security company, I subcontracted from a local security company to do the security for the hospital and A&E in Cheltenham, excellent thinks I, what could go wrong with this?



I still have the black books if anyone wishes to contest my words, but I thought it pertinent to mention this as I support hospital staff and in particular the maternity and A&E and they are being abused and assaulted on an hourly basis.



It was about half two in the morning and the local homeless addicts are trying to get their heads down beind the morgue, maternity is locked down, so I don’t have to worry about that, all is in order.



After escorting a young doctor back to her residence in temperatures fit for brass balls, the poor girl was walking in her half sleep, fatigue was destroying her, I returned to he A&E to a shout of “security to cubicle 4”.



That is it, the machinery that is me is on the move.

In going through the curtain I see a doctor at the head of the bed, nurse to my left and on the bed, a man with his lip split horizontal from the lip to the bottom of his nose itself.

Both sides of his lip had sprung apart from the center leaving him looking like a horror clown, complete with screaming and blood.

I took up position on the free side of the bed and reminded the fellow that “”this sort of stupidity will get him thrown out of the hospital and treatment refused until such a time as his compliance was ensured””

Ie, shut the fk up or ill throw you out.



Anywho, as this poor doctor tried to get the two sides of this fellows drunken lips together, with a needle that looked like a boat hook, I looked at the nurse who was sorting out the kit to sew him up………………..



In an instant, this drunk reaches up with his right hand, grabs the scissors in the nurse’s pocket and stabbed him-self in the chest with the said scissors.



For a split second, the doctor, nurse and I just stood there, it seemed to be lasting for ever, I threw myself across him and nailed both his arms down, making sure not to dig the scissors in even more, my only thought was “I don’t have any more clean shirts”



THAT WAS 15 MINUTES IN CHELTNHAM A&E.



Our nurses and doctors are the abused unsung hero’s of humanity.



We need to change.
