Chesapeake Mill Description

The Chesapeake Mill is a beautiful example of a historic building being reborn into a unique retail outlet full of exiting merchandise. The Mill itself is of architecturalortance as a fine example of the re-use of salvage timber in construction - though the shell is brick all structural members within are of timber, most from the frigate 'Chesapeake' a warship captured by the Royal Navy in 1812 during a war. The mill is the finest example of recycled ship timber.
The Mill, at the time, was considered to be a very modern buildingin design - and throughout the years has played and important part to Wickham and the surrounding Meon Valley.
The Mill today has been transformed into a retail Haven where you can find treasures, glassware, gifts, jewellery and antiques and collectables beautifully compliment the charming building which accomodates it all. #

We came to visit for the first time on Friday and fell in love so many gorgeous items in a beautiful location. All your staff were so friendly and wished us a good morning. Finally the lovely smells from cafe made the visit perfect. Next time we will stay longer and try the cafe, in fact we may stay for the day!!!! Thank you.

This place never fails to thrill me! The staff are like friends and nothing is ever too much trouble. Husband even found a suitable wardrobe this week for his man cave! Mid way we stop for coffee and can enjoy sugar free items .. and delicious hot drinks. Go, you will not be disappointed. X

Thanks to the lovely ladies in the shop that helped me squeeze the vintage wardrobe into my car in the pouring rain!

Such an array of beautiful items! There is something for everyone. We went to have something to eat at offbeet and simply had to browse round the mill.

One of my favorite places! I love having a browse around Chesapeake Mill .... not only is it the perfect setting to house all of the fantastic traders who sell an eclectic mix of quality old & new, from furniture to giftware and much more in between, but the staff are always so friendly and welcoming; nothing is ever too much trouble. No visit would be complete without having stopped for some well deserved refreshment at Cafe Meon. I love the new outside terrace overlooking the river .... a perfect addition for a sunny day. Whenever I visit, I always come away with something, and find myself wishing I had the space and funds for more! If you've never been before, you're in for a treat! It's definitely worth a visit (at least once a month!). Keep up the great work all concerned x

Just the most beautiful setting for an Aladins cave of yummyness. Can't recommend it enough. Lovely staff too.

User

I love this place lots of quirky things to look at. Very nostalgic. Friendly helpful staff. A little overpriced for coffees and cake I felt. Just a thought if they did a cofee rewards scheme it may warrent the prices

User

I love mooching around Chesapeake Mill, especially with friends. A true Aladins Cave full of items I want to buy! So many items for sale bring back happy childhood memories. Go for yourself to find out!

User

Great selection of collectibles and all things old

User

First visit and liked it a lot. Thoroughly enjoyed the lunch as did my wife and our Vegan daughter. Service was perhaps a little slow but more than made up for by the excellence of the food.

User

An absolute treasure trove of goodies. Great restaurant too and it's worth going just for the hot choccy!

User

A great place to visit for those who like wary US Naval History.
