Chester Barrie Description
Innovation has always been the way. Established in the 1930s Chester Barrie was one of the first to offer ready-to-wear tailoring, providing the same attention to detail and commitment to quality as the old bespoke houses on Savile Row but making great tailoring more accessible. At the time it was revolutionary.
This belief in the best continues to this day – though much else has moved on. The way men dress has changed dramatically and so too has Chester Barrie. Lighter fabrics, innovative blends and a far softer structure have ushered in a more relaxed form of dressing, which Chester Barrie has embraced.
But it has also ensured that shape and substance have continued to play an important role. The tailor’s art is to take a piece of cloth and create a three-dimensional form, to bring it to life so that it sculpts and flatters the wearer. Chester Barrie’s craft is to enhance.
And it also adds flair. Such new tailoring can be dressed up or dressed-down: with a neat tab collar and tie for that sharper look, or with beautiful fine gauge knitwear and jeans for a more relaxed demeanour. While use of colour is also important, not just in the weave of the cloth but in shirts and accessories to help build a complete look.
The aim always is to be the Modern Tailor to the Modern Man.

And with it comes a new set of imperatives when planning what to wear. Of course, a wedding is one of the few occasions when you can really dress-up so here are our tips for looking your best.
The most important rule is, perhaps, obvious...: do the research to find out the dress code and follow it religiously. Think about the weather too. It will be cold but the best way to generate warmth is through layers rather than heft. Wedding receptions are apt to whip up quite a bit of heat so to be able to adapt as the evening progresses will be a boon.

The double-breasted suit jackets in Chester Barrie’s AW18 Collection come with traditional peak lapels for sharpness of line, and new for this season, a two by six button figuration, which serves to both reinforce its structure and a... sense of the jacket’s refurbed modernity. As 2018 comes to an end we look back on some of Chester Barrie's highlights throughout the year. One outstanding moment was the refurbishment and relaunch of our Savile Row store which was closed for nearly a month as our shopfitters transformed the store.
The re-opening was celebrated in style with journalists, bloggers and friends of the brand gathering to raise a glass of Nyetimber Wines to toast the refurbished shop.

Flat Lay Friday: If you hanker after a grey suit but don’t want to end up in the “grey suit brigade” then this is the suit for you.
