Putting communities at the heart of conservation...
The wellbeing of people and ecosystems are inextricably linked. Increasing pressures on the natural world are pushing many species to the brink of extinction, while knowledge and appreciation of the flora and fauna that share our living space is decreasing rapidly, putting the future of wildlife in ever-greater jeopardy. Education and outreach activities are therefore crucial for the success of wildlife conservation and sust...ainable development programmes worldwide.
Chester Zoo supports over 80 conservation projects in 30 countries around the globe, many of which include education and community engagement as a key component. In October, twelve participants from this diverse range of projects will be visiting Chester Zoo to attend a week of bespoke training to build their skills in education strategy, behaviour change, presentation and facilitation, and monitoring and evaluation procedures.
This training week also provides a wonderful opportunity to share with YOU some of the amazing conservation success stories that these organisations have been involved in. Join us for a day of inspiring talks from our field partners who are bringing communities closer to their local wildlife and empowering a new generation of conservationists.
This event is for anyone with an interest in wildlife and conservation.

Zoo was amazing. Lovely and clean. Animals seemed happy and well looked after. The islands were a great experience, and although we didn’t do the monorail or boat, they looked like fun. We took our own picnic as with any zoo, food and drinks can be expensive. My 8 year old and 1 1/2 year old were equally happy. Definitely worth the money.

User

Visited today with my 9 years old daughter .

Zoo nice and clean ( well looked after ) , lovely and fantastic animals ( big variety )

I understand prices was high but we need to understand to keep the zoo in that condition require a lot maintenance, which is not cheap.

So even it was expensive I paid with pleasure .

The only down side in my opinion was : signs are confusing , need to improve the map and signs and healthy food and drinks options .

I definitely want to go back !

User

Really good place to visit. Plenty of toilets, plenty of places to sit down and eat and drink. Loved the refillable cup. The map is a really essential thing to have. The only things I would say is it is HUGE. Seriously big, it will wear you out! And if really really needs more signage on the ground. We very often had no idea where we were! Also names of the animals on the pens would be nice. Only saw names on the elephant pen but those of us who watch the TV prog know the animals by name. It would be nice to know which rhino that is etc. It looks different on the TV! Other than that, fab place!!

Having the Yorkshire wildlife park on my doorstep I fancied a change for a day out. After a 2hour drive I reached my destination- Chester zoo

I felt like a kid on Christmas morning when the first thing I heard and saw were the stunning elephants, I have never grinned so much.

The whole Zoo is amazing from start to finish,

The animals are truely beautiful and are in fantastic surroundings, Chester zoo please keep up the fantastic work you do, it’s a magical place to visit

Had an amazing time with my daughter as an early 1st birthday present however it did end up with a trip to the hospital after an allergic reaction. I've got to say the staff and first aider involved helping my little girl were absolutely brilliant. Very polite, helpful and couldn't have done anything more for the both of us. Well done Chester Zoo you have some amazing people working for you xxx

Had a lovely day at the zoo with my daughter, 2 of her friends and their mum. Saw most of the animals in zones A, C and D. Particularly enjoyed the Two toed sloths. Went into the bat cave but the girls were a bit wary of them being free flying especially when we walked through the tunnel and they were flying just above our heads.

Very impressed with the cleanliness of the toilets.

User

Had a amazimg day out so many animals to see even tho some were hiding in the shade still had a great day. Prices for food and drink is to expensive would highly recommend taking a picnic and booking online saves some money.great for the whole family to enjoy.

User

Brought our four year old granddaughter, she loved everything. The animals all looked well cared for and happy, the enclosures were large and well kept. All the facilities such as food and toilets were clean and well placed. Having play areas broke up the walking for the little one. Money well spent, happy little girl and a happy gran and grandad at the end of a long but fun day.

User

Best zoo I’ve been to. Great range of animals to see, lovely enclosures that clearly are dedicated to animal welfare, amazing convenience in terms of food and drink as you walk the parks, and some amazing interactive experiences. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the fruit bat walk and the tropical bird enclosures. We will definitely return. Well worth the trip!

User

Went today for the first time since I was a kid. Went with my husband as we are both animal lovers. The place is huge and very well kept. The staff are lovely and super friendly. The animals seem happy and everything is clean and they are well looked after.

Disappointed with the lack of water fountains, would of expected them to be dotted around the park and there weren't any about. We brought a packed lunch as I read how expensive it was and we had already spent enough on tickets, wasn't prepared to pay anymore for food. Drinks and snacks were completely over priced. Must cost a fortune if you have kids.

Didn't go on the monorail as I expected it to be included with the price, was shocked to see you have to pay extra. Would be nice if people would clear away their rubbish, we sat in 2 picnic areas and watched families leave all their cups, hot dog wrappers etc all over the table... Digusting. There were 3 bins nearby.

Also if some parents could control their kids that would be great... I saw a little lad attempting to kick a duck and so many kids banging on glass in the jaguar house. Disgrace.

It's definitely worth a visit though... Just be prepared for the expensive food and drinks and don't bother with the map. It's useless. Just wonder round and get lost its more fun!

User

Me n my son went yesterday. Its a nice day out with lots to see n do, not all animals were out, the map is utter useless id recommend just winging it n have a nice stroll around. Prices for drinks and food ect is over inflated, mono rail should be free to be fair as its already mega expencive to get in and it broke so paid for unlimited on used it from one station to the next and they couldnt fix it!! I would suggest maybe since prices are so high to maybe follow in the footsteps of other places and offer a free return in a 6month period or something. We did enjoy ourselfs tho and had a good mom n son day together x

User

It is a great day out, although an expensive one. Enjoyable for both kids and adults alike, the staff are friendly and courteous and there is plenty to do and see. One thing that I would note is how few toilets there are for such a large area, and signage would be useful to help find them.

User

It cost me £106 which I thought was not too bad for a full day for three adults and two children but was expensive for drinks , ice cream and mono rail once inside. The signs could have been a lot better, we a lot of extra walking as the map was very poor. There were also no staff about to help us.

The toilets were very clean. We took our own food and there are lots of picnic areas.

User

Friendly staff all around the park. Had a lovely day with my son. Prices are extortionate so we took a picnic instead. Lots to see and do. Id recommend the zoo but I'd also recommend booking online as it's cheaper and also definitely take your own food or it will cost an arm and leg.

User

A very good day out - the islands area is especially good. good play areas for the children and Cheshire ice cream farm products available. We saw all the big animals and small ones too! The butterfly house is fantastic

To improve please please provide water fountains - on a hot day like today it is really needed. The queues for the drinks kiosks were long and bottled water was expensive. Also more shaded areas to eat would be good. Agree with previous posters- the signs and maps aren't great and you end up walking extra steps getting lost!

User

It was a good zoo, and toilets are clean which is great, and lots of picnic areas in and out of the sun which I suppose would also be a bonus on wet days. Some great play areas for the kids to, which lets them blow off a bit of steam.

It is huge , so prepare to walk miles. The maps and signage could do with a lot of work and the app was just as confusing. The Zapp points on the animal spotter need highlighting to as my boys couldn’t find any of them.

But it was sooo expensive! £63 for me and my two little boys and then once you get in you have to pay high fees for ice creams and drinks! So your looking at around £100 a day trip. Also at that price you shouldn’t have to pay extra for the monorail! I appreciate it costs a lot to run, but the fact that they increase the prices in busy school holiday season really frustrates me as a single mum, and it certainly hasn’t inspired me to return.

User

I enjoyed the day as it was a day out. We ended up spending way more than what was expected nearly 60 quid for entry for 2 people and after they took our money they failed to mention all the animal were either hiding away or fast asleep. They don't say this when taking our money.

when an animal was awake you couldn't get anywhere near through people taking millions of photos to upload on thier social media. Obviously because nobody has seen a monkey before on Facebook.

I thought the idea was to go and see and learn about the animals and also donate. Not walk around all day with your phone in your hand pissing the animals off with flashing every 5 seconds!!!

Although I think the park has done a fantastic job of the up keep of the animals well being. All the enclosures were clean and maintained and all had food and water.

As long as they are being looked after I'm completely happy and know that the money we spent that day is being used well.

Just ashame alot of visitors have no regard for these animals. Shouting loudly, flashing constantly, banging on the glass. From trying to avoid these people I missed out on seeing a few animals.

User

Hand lovely day yesterday with my boy and his friend cost £59 to get in which was pretty expensive however i knew this when I booked it and we spent hour there and I understand the staff have to be paid and the animals looked after etc however, once inside the children wanted ice cream and I was astounded at how much they cost £2.50 for a magnum outrageous when you can buy a box of 4 for £2.00 and the drinks were just as expensive £2.20 for a J20 there is no need for this at all £7.50 for 3 ice creams this really needs sorting out!! Other than that we walked for miles and had a great day.

User

Before visiting here today I expected amazing things I am a massive fan of secret life of the zoo so really looked forward to coming here we travelled from Edinburgh spent the night and went here first thing in the morning got there for 10:00am and went into the car park which was very well run by the staff once inside it was more like a game of hide and seek trying to look for the animals in there enclosures very disappointed that I came all this way and hardly seen a thing also looked forward to the monorail which we obviously paid for and after seeing the size of the ques decided not to bother I also can’t believe we paid £80 to visit here and thought we where getting a bargain with buying in advance but I would still feel absolutely robbed paying any more than £10 each to get in here very disappointed definitely won’t be back
