About Cheyne Walk Club

Cheyne Walk Club is a private members club, which was formed in 1929 originally for members of the Chamber of Commerce, and later accepted membership from the wider community of business owners, managers and leaders from the commercial, public and third sectors. Despite this long history, it is often referred to as one of the best kept secrets in Northampton. The property was built in 1868, and was originally the home of the 1867 mayor of Northampton, James Norman, who was also a JP and local business owner. The property then became the family home of the Church family, who are still world renowned for their high quality shoes. You can still see Alfred Church's initials in the stained glass- and, if you look carefully-also inscribed over the fireplace. The property is held in Trust on behalf of the membership. Cheyne Walk Club offers its members and their guests a high quality, traditional atmosphere in which to enjoy their leisure time. We still host business networking events, seminars and conferences, and members also use the rooms to hold business meetings as well as social events.
