Well what can I say!! Fantastic show!! Everyone sang amazingly and they all looked incredible!! Lovely theatre with lovely and pleasant staff. Would definitely recommend and also would even see it again. Thankyou to all!!! Loved the humour in the show too!! The band were incredible also!! Hats off to them for being a part of the production with their humour also!!! Just topped it off!!!
We had a tremendous evening. It was a great theatrical experience. Happy faces and smiles all round. Brilliant songs and music, funny lines, real foot tapping entertainment. Roxie and Velma got better and better as the show progressed. Go and see it. Itโs class.
Seen it for my birthday, what a superb show, Cuba brought star power to the production! Both Velma and Roxie especially were terrific! Loved the jazz and old noir smoky atmosphere!
Great performances all round.....go see it ๐๐ป
Saw this, my favourite musical last night. It was a great production. Was honored to have seen Ruthie Henshall as Velma. She was amazing. Saw her many years ago in the show when it was at the strand. This was much funnier than I remember. Well done to all the cast and fantastic band.
Martin Kemp and the amazing cast - simply WoW!!โ What a fabulous evening! Thank you for the entertainment, amazing dancing, live music and most of all those voices!! ๐๐๐ Well done to all involved in putting this fabulous show together, and โAll that Jazz!โ ๐ถ xx
Last time I saw Chicago Brooke Shields played Roxie. I have loved it ever since. Last night I took my daughter to see it and was not disappointed - those songs! Those dancers! Slick sassy funny amazing and to see Martin Kemp took top class night out!!!!!
Great show! Orchestra was amazing. Sexy ladies, handsome guys. Good humor. Cuba made really nice show.
The only downside was the theater service. They did not make sure that people did not eat during the show and did not use phones
Great show and great cast. I loved the fact that it was all about the music, no scene changes or costume changes. It was punchy, professional and talented artists. Thank you. It topped off our visit to The British Isles.
Excellent show, it kept me wanting more the whole way through. I would highly recommend seeing it. The cast and the band were amazing! Sarah Soetaert stole the show and was perfectly cast as Roxy. The only let down for me was Josefina Gabrielle as she was not suited to play Velma, in my opinion, as she lacks power and attack in her dancing. Otherwise excellent!
Enjoyed watching Chicago again yesterday, this time at the Phoenix Theatre having originally seen it 12 years ago. We booked tickets as part of our Wedding Anniversary weekend away. The show is excellent, the songs are catchy, the band are amazing and all the cast are stars of the show, they really give it their all. Was thrilled that Cuba Gooding Jnr made an appearance, with it being the Saturday matinee I wasnโt certain he would. Heโs charming, charismatic and such a cheeky chappie - perfect for the role he plays as Billy Flynn. Heโs had some poor reviews but we thought he had all the Razzle Dazzle he needed for the part!!!
Amazing show, had front room seats which was awesome. We felt totally absorbed in the show. Granted Cuba Gooding Jnr wasn't the greatest singer but he brought amazing stage presence which was more than enough for us. They all were totally brilliant and the theatre was lovely too. Lovely front of house staff.
This is a very good version of Chicago. As with other reviews I agree Cuba isnโt a great singer but his acting and charisma more than make up for his singing ability. Josefina Gabrielle and Sarah Soetaert who play Velma and Roxie are excellent and really play the two lead roles well. Support cast are also very good. The lack of background scenery actually helps the audience focus on the characters. I would say it does pay to know the story as it moves along at fast pace at times. Overall an excellent show, well worth seeing.
Many times seeing Chicago and have seen the original 20 or so years ago in the West End and on Broadway in New York. I think this is a more intimate show with very adaptable cast members. Cuba will need to project his voice more to obtain that flow and depth, screen actor who has turned his talent to the stage. Needs a bit of support and nurturing to obtain a better performance. Overall a very good effort.
Enjoyed the show especially with Cuba even though he canโt really sing but boy does he have charisma! Thoroughly entertained. Roxy was amazing! What a talent! Interesting that space was so small on stage yet they were so great and talented it didnโt matter too much. Would have been even more amazing though if had bigger stage. Phoenix theatre not the most comfortable... my seat could have done with a revamp.
We had Alexandra Burke in front of us....an added bonus!
Didn't know what to expect here. Thought the show was great, good humour and very sexy ladies. Not much too the set but works.
Cuba seemed to struggle with his voice but didn't matter as I think he's a great actor with an amazing amount of talent. ( show me the money)
Theatre very uncomfortable, extremely hot.
Average performance, Cuba Jr not the best. Premises very small and cramped. If you are taller that 5'6,you will struggle sit down. Overall - waste of money, nothing special. Sad to say, but even 'kinky boots ' was better.
The best thing is Cuba Gooding Jr. his voice is average at best but heโs got charm and style and his interpretation of Billy Flynn is really amusing and quick witted. However the set a cheap ( the same set as the touring show I saw in Dartford in 2016) and for the price of the ticket it isnโt worth it. The rest of the cast are good, itโs not them itโs the staging and the delivery of everything . It feels old , cheap and tried. This is the west end ! try harder !!
Sorry, but singing tonight (July 25th) was under West End niveau - dancing without energy. Cheers to the powerful trumpet lady in the band. She was in a professional way full of power. Left the show during intermission. A weak echoe from the 80ties. Sorry but Iโd like to be honest. Money back? No, respect to the actors but warning for musical lovers.
Don't go if you are only going to see Cuba gooding Jr. He simply can not sing. he sounds like a heavy smoker when he sings. and the way he played was simply poor. I liked the rest though
