Therapy and counselling for children and adolescents in Glossop and Manchester area.

I am a psychotherapist offering psychological support and treatment for children and adolescents in Glossop / High Peak and Manchester areas, for a wide range of issues, including:

*anxiety (including exam nerves)

*other emotional and behavioural difficulties

I have over 10 years of working therapeutically with both young people and adults, in a wide range of contexts, including children's homes, primary schools, prisons, NHS and other settings.

It is a common misconception that a child cannot benefit from therapy until they are older when they are able to describe their experiences verbally. Much of the child's distress is stored in their physiology and their nervous system (and not necessarily in their "talking" part of the brain), and even children as young as two can benefit from certain types of therapy - in fact the earlier the child is offered appropriate therapeutic support, the quicker and fuller the progress is likely to be.

Please note that I typically have a waiting list of 6-8 weeks but will normally give priority to children and young people in allocating appointments.
