Chilli Pepper Global (CPG) is an independent specialist business that supports individuals through the job seeking process when applying direct as opposed to using the traditional route of a recruitment agency. In particular we focus on those individuals who are looking to move internally with their existing employer. We have recognised that there is little support provided to internal applicants and the result is that their preparation is not to the same quality as an external applicant. Some common mistakes that are made include: 1. Internal applicants tend to pay less attention to the content and presentation of their CV. They assume that because they already work for the firm that the interviewer will know all about their experience. 2. Internal applicants are renowned for assuming that they have a good chance of a job offer just because they're already working for the company. They often forget the need to prepare and practise in the same way as they would for any external interview. 3. Internal applicants can be known to hold back on information with regards to their skills and experience, hence reducing their chances of securing the role. They can often feel awkward when selling themselves to someone that they already know or have perhaps worked alongside in the past. 4. Internal applicants forget to ‘follow up' partly because they do not have a recruitment agency calling them for their feedback but also because they feel it's not necessary.
