This is the house where it all started. The original bakery at the back of the shop is where our irresistible confectionery is carefully concocted and crafted.
It is here, half way up the high street and next to our butchery shop, that you’ll find the most extensive selection of our handmade real bread.
A fairy tale of cakes, buns and patisserie jostles for space as they stack towards the ceiling silently begging ‘eat me’ with a cherry on top! An awesome fridge, filled with hand made sandwiches to take away, and of course the incomparable coffee, compete with each other for total satisfaction of the appetite, and of course keep our loyal regulars returning again and again.
Beyond our shop counter, you will find the Hobbs House Pantry, where you can take a break from shopping and savour our delicious cakes, carefully sourced teas and coffees, and enjoy a delicious lunch
This positively pokey bakery is rammed to the rafters: a visual feast assault to compete with the richly evocative aromas of fresh baked bread and fresh ground coffee. All you would expect from a Hobbs House Bakery. And perhaps a crumb or two more!

Work with us? Mince Pie Making -Temporary Contract. This year we are planning to bake 80,000 handmade mince pies. That’s a lot of stamping, rolling, filling and topping so we need two people to join us in the months leading up to Christmas to support the Confectionery team in their valiant quest to satisfy the local area’s demand for top quality mince pies. Italian bread conjures up thoughts of summer, whether it's to be eaten whilst on a picnic by the river or at home in the garden accompanying a chilled glass of wine, cured meats and some delicious olives. This intermediate bread making course is perfect for those looking to add to their baking repertoire, w...hether you have been on our Beginner Bread Making course or have some alternative experience to date. We aim to give a whistle stop tour of Italy, selecting a few of our most favourite breads and sharing them with you.
The emphasis of the day will be on getting to grips with wetter doughs that can be tricky to handle there will be plenty of opportunity for shaping a variety of doughs to help build confidence. Think delicious, pillowy ciabatta that's as light as a feather and the perfect Sicilian semolina bread which would adorn any lunch table, as well as focaccia and olive bread. We will be using a range of Italian style flours as well as introducing an Italian pre- ferment or 'biga'. You’ll take home a bag of your freshly baked bread to share with family and friends as well as a wealth of knowledge to help you continue on your journey of discovery.

We have a rare few spaces that have become available on our pre school classes, as some of our students are off to school this September - but be quick as they go like hot cakes! Introducing our Mexican-inspired Sundried Tomato & Jalapeño Sourdough. This new seasonal loaf has a spicy kick to it with fresh jalapeños running through the dough. Made with our classic 63 year old Sourdough Starter, this loaf craves to be made into a sizzling cheese toastie. Available in all our shops from Monday 20th August.

What a fabulous evening. Tom & Jane were so friendly & welcoming. A fantastic venue, a very informative but relaxed & low key evening that it felt like we were visiting friends. The first sourdough surgery we were told & I can see these are going to prove very popular. This is a great place with great people.

Original in every sense of the word. Taste, style you name it this place has it! I just clocked the paper bags with the story on from Trevor Herbert. Marvellous! Just had the Chipping Sodbury cake which is delicious too! Friendly staff, beautiful cakes, treats and biscuits,( my children love the biscuit vans with icing!) unrivaled bread and now hot food too! Much more of an experience than one would expect from a traditional bakery-Lucky to have this on our doorstep! From a huge fan!

I am big fan of their bread. The staff in the bakery are always able to explain the difference between the great range. Must try a doughnut one day. We are attending the toddler cookery school and thoroughly enjoying it.

Attended the Enriched Dough Course this morning. Had a thoroughly enjoyable morning learning to make Brioche, Chelsea Buns, Donuts, Lardy Cake and Cinnamon Buns. The trainer, Jane was a really great trainer.

I left feeling fulfilled and full of enthusiasm to bring what I have learned to my own kitchen.
