Chobham Cricket Club

HOLD THE DATE : Sunday 17th May. Chobham CC will be playing an invitational XI in a T20 match starting at 2pm. There will be a couple of ‘famous faces’ on the opposing team – Alan Curbishley opening the bowling and possibly a couple of guests from Surrey CC, Bar and BBQ will be fired up from lunchtime, followed by a Hog Roast after the game. Before this match with a 0930 start time our U13 SJIL Champions will be aiming to defend their title against Reigate in a 30 over match so lots of cricket on and a great opportunity to support your local club!

Chobham CC’s AGM will take place in the pavilion on 28 January (time tbc).

This weeks player profile is one of the very exciting young talrnts coming through the club. Alex is a 1st team player, and U14s star and is part of the Hampshire CCC setup. We are very much looking forward to Alex putting his stamp on the club this year. Go well Yatesy Jnr

Never mind the Ashes, the most important cricket match yesterday was Chobham’s Youngsters v Not-So- Youngsters fixture which was won by the Youngsters by 4 wickets with 9 balls to spare and was followed by a barbecue and drinks in the bar!
The injury list of the Not-So-Youngsters so far consists of one torn groin and one badly bruised toe!
In all seriousness, the game showcased again the depth of junior talent which we have within the Club. Hopefully the fixture will become firmly established in the calendar.

Huge congratulations to the following Chobham CC teams who won their respective leagues this year - in particular the U13 team who were competing against much bigger clubs in the premier league in the county.

The Club will be holding its end of season party this coming Saturday (7th September) with a “Youngsters” v “Not-so-youngsters” 25 over-a-side game from 2.30pm followed by a Barbecue and drinks. Please come and celebrate with your fellow club-members and also please feel free to invite friends who might be interested in joining the Club next year.

1st XI match cancelled due to weather.

All Stars Cancelled today, the outfield is too wet after the rain last night. Please come down next Saturday for your free taster.

In light of Sunday evening's monumental win in the World Cup Final, our All Stars and Minis will be offering free "taster/bring a friend" sessions this Saturday and Sunday morning for any little ones inspired by the England team's success. For 4-6 year olds, we recommend our All-Stars group running from 9.30-11.00 on Saturdays and for 7-8 year olds we recommend our Minis group at the same time on Sundays.

Congratulations to the England Men’s Cricket team, World Cup Winners 2019!! The atmosphere in the Club yesterday was very special and brought home what being part of a cricket club is all about. We were joined by members and guests aged 3-75 including current and past 1st team players, junior coaches and junior players to watch the game, share burgers, beers (and stress) and celebrate in style at the end. Special thanks to club stalwarts Nigel Sturt and Andy Reynolds for their hard work behind the bar and barbecue!! Apparently all dogs and children are accounted for safely 😊

World Cup Final LIVE at Chobham CC !!!! Come and watch England win their first ever World Cup with your fellows club members!! The Club will be showing the game live on Channel 4 (and More 4 whilst the Grand Prix is on) from 10.30 onwards. The bar will also be open and we will be cooking burgers between innings.

This Saturday, 13 July, the club will be hosting our World Cup Final Eve Family Day. In the morning there will an opportunity to watch our Minis and Allstars (and their parents!!) show off their skills before a barbecue at lunchtime. In the afternoon, the ground will be available for more parents and children’s games before we go home to bite our nails before England (hopefully) take on India or New Zealand at Lord’s

Thanks to everyone who supported President’s Day on Sunday where Chobham beat the East India Club XI by 7 wickets with 7 overs to spare; and more importantly raised a substantial amount for the Club. In particular, thank you to all those who helped out over the weekend, and Ben and Trixie who demonstrated the art of barbecuing in drizzle at lunchtime and blazing sunshine in the afternoon.

Despite a murky start, we’re now blessed with glorious sunshine for President’s day. The ice cream van will be here soon.

Congratulations to the Club's newest team - our Sunday morning Minis (Aged 7-9) who had their first experience of tournament cricket on Sunday in the Marlow Big Bash. Considering that we were up against much larger clubs and our team had never played competitively before, we can be incredibly proud as one team only missed out on qualifying for the semi-final by virtue of net run rate and the other were successful in one of their games.
