If you're visiting Chorley town centre for market day the Flat Iron will be busy so we’d encourage you to try one of the many other town centre car parks. Here's a map to remind you of where they all are - don't forget you can get one hour free parking on all short stay car parks (except Flat Iron) and three hours free on all long stay car parks.

This week we started work on the Market Walk extension and with it being one of the biggest developments in the town centre for some time we wanted to make sure everyone knew what was happening. If you have any questions, or have heard rumours that you want to check out, then please ask on here and we will publish all the answers. We have lots of information on our website here http://chorley.gov.uk/Pages/Town-Centre-I mprovements.aspx with a timeline of what will be happening over the coming weeks and months but we want your help in compiling FAQs for everyone.

Today is World Mental Health Day, and the theme this year is around young people. Mental health conditions affect about 1 in 10 children and young people, with 75% of mental health problems in adult life, excluding dementia, starting before age 18.
We recently partnered up with Leaders Unlcoked, Wellcome Trust, Preston City Council, South Ribble Council and the NHS Chorley and South Ribble and NHS Greater Preston CCGs to design and deliver MH2K. This is a youth led approach t...o exploring mental health. The process recruited 24 Citizen Researchers and empowered over 1,150 young people to provide a number of findings and recommendations to provide decision-makers’ with an understanding of both the mental health challenges they face and what solutions could look like. Details of the main topics that were covered are outlined in the final report - including social media, education and prevention, services and professionals, LGBTQ+ young people and young men.
The partnership remains committed to the importance of prevention and early intervention, supporting young people to build mental health resilience from a young age. We would like to thank all of the partners, schools, community and voluntary groups, and of course all of the young people who have contributed to this piece of work.
You can read the full report from Central Lancashire MH2K here https://bit.ly/2QDR565
If you have any questions about the report please contact our Health & Wellbeing Team by messaging us on here, calling 01257 515151 or email community.development@chorley.gov.uk

Today we start work on building the Market Walk extension, which will bring a M&S Foodhall and a six-screen Reel Cinema to Chorley. The first thing you will notice is the perimeter fence being set up around the construction site (see image for detail of where it will be located). If you have any questions on what's happening just ask throughout the work.

User

Wow what another great Chorley Live weekend! It was great to see the town centre so busy with people of all ages enjoying themselves! If you missed it here are a few pics and if you came along we'd really appreciate it if you could spend a couple of minutes completing our event survey so we can get feedback on what you enjoyed and how we could improve it for next year https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/RL9K3DC< br>

User

A big thank you to everyone for supporting this year's event - it was great to see so many happy people. We'd really appreciate any feedback so if you could spare a couple of minutes to complete our survey it'd be much appreciated https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/RL9K3DC< br>

We (16 of us) visited Santa today at Astley Hall. It was superb. To the gentleman at the council offices welcoming us on board, thank you for being so lovely. To the guys on the train, you were so accommodating and flexible. Santa was lovely, the house (as always) looked great. The face painter wS probably the best I have ever seen. Lovely day

User

The council do there best to try and manage the differing needs of residents. Love the events such as Chorley Live and the flower show etc.

User

I would just like to say thankyou to the Council for the excellent service I received today. Bill the gentleman in the landscaping/arbocultural dept., dealt with my enquiry swiftly and then phoned me twice to explain what progress had been made. Alan then dealt immediately with the information Bill relayed to him and following my enquiry, the tree surgeons themselves came round immediately to assess our situation. A solution was suggested and a plan of action put in place to implement it. All staff from the office to the tree surgeons themselves were very polite, professional and extremely helpful. Credit were it’s due - well done Chorley Council!

I attended Chorley Council Offices Housing Dept on 28th June 2017 very nervous. My situation had changed dramatically after the unfortunate passing of my husband.

Having never claimed anything before I did not know what to do but just wanted some advice.

However the treatment I received was second to none.Jane my advisor was helpful, compassionate and very very understanding.Jane gave me some very useful information

and I left the office with very useful information,I was not hurried and made to feel very comfortable.

So I just wanted to thank you for everything,

Kind Regards,

Christina Gallagher

Had to ring CBC this morning for help. A poor cat had died right in front of my drive. Not sure if it had been knocked down or not. We had to go out but when we came home it was gone. They sent someone out straight away to remove it. Thank you so much.

User

Feedback for the meet Santa and Santa train experience; kids had a good time and I was super impressed with the quality of face painting - absolutely the best I have seen. Thank you.

User

Doing a great job of moving Chorley forward. Loving the work with bringing investment and jobs into the town. Chorley is a great place to live and to love!

User

Still collecting garden waste from households that have not paid the £30.00 renewal fee. How fair is that to those residents who have complied with your 1st May deadline.?

Surely it isn't THAT difficult to enforce, and if it is, why should any of us bother.? Perhaps you plan on reimbursing those households who have been compliant, and paid as requested.

User

Why does nobody answer the phones ever and never return calls using optional service!! ??

User

Watch out for free parking scams!!!!

User

Very disappointed that Westminster Road (yellow line side) has been unenforceable for over 12 months!! And yesterday without warning a new time plate was put in which has led to PCNs being issued today! Don’t u think a kind warning should have been sent out to the residents giving them chance to move their cars?

I was not one of the unlucky ones but I think after such a long I enforcement the right thing would have been to let residents know....

User

Today I called the council to order three bins which were not here when I moved into the property...and it’s cost me £90!!! What a disgrace Chorley council..total bloody rip off when I pay my council tax etc etc etc

User

The state of the roads around Chorley is horrendous! Especially at the roundabout outside seven stars on eaves lane! I have just blown a tyre riding home from work! This post will not get acknowledged or if it does the blame will will either be pushed back on myself or somebody else! Millions to spend on a fucking extension of market walk yet you can't fix some pot holes, well I say hole when it's more like a meteor has collided with earth! Joke!

User

Love how you filled in all the pot holes for the cycle race even thou they don't pay road tax. And because chorley council and Lancashire council said that they don't do with the pot holes in that area. But the chorley council and Lancashire council filled them in and I know a few bikes what have damaged there bike from the put holes over Rivington and you never did any thing about it until this bike race what went on

User

Is ridiculous, several times been not collected and why I had enough and rang to complain, been told to ring other day cause system is down..., beyond the joke , what for I’m I paying that much i think we shouldn’t pay for every time they don’t the service...

User

In the middle off a big environmental disaster . The air is toxic from the local landfill

User

Can’t believe in this weather you would have workers working on a major busy bypass tidying up edges of grass !!! All week !!! Ridiculous

User

Building in the towncentre for businesses that haven't signed up to even come - reducing parking and killing the local businesses already here! Chorley is a market town and all the council seem bothered about are marks and Spencer's coming here who won't even commit to signing to bring a shop here! And today a Tuesday also doing roadworks on the main route into town on market day - why not just tell the businesses to give up now with an incompetent council like this killing the town!!!

User

Booked to take my 5 year old son on the organised bat walk at Yarrow Valley park yesterday evening only for no one to show up! At least 10 families were stood waiting, all with upset and disappointed young children. Got home to a cancellation email which was sent last minute yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't get the email as we were at work/school all day and came straight to the park for the allotted time. Probably best that if you cancel an event last minute you use the contact numbers taken at the time of booking to ensure each person who has booked receives the cancellation message or at the very least put a message up on the notice board so people aren't left hanging around.
