Chorleywood Cricket Club

Chorleywood Cricket Club Description

Chorleywood Cricket Club has been playing on The Common for nearly 200 years and, for passers-by in the summer months, the sight of a cricket match in progress as they drive or walk through Chorleywood is always a memorable landmark. We play 4 adult teams on a Saturday and multiple colts teams starting from Under 7's.

Congrats to Johnny Rice on his nuptials!

And for our team sheet of the week we have the 3's who are at home to Old Eastcotians with skipper Nigel Tyler returning to his team to hopefully lead them to victory.
Also great to have Danny Tipping back playing. What a handsome man.
And how can I forget Tweeds returning to the fold for the first time in a couple of years.

Gun of the week this week is Callum Neal who smashed 123 against Berko in our T20 last Friday. The innings started slowly but ended with Cal smashing 5 sixes as his less talented brother watched on.

And here is our team for Saturday's top of the table clash against Abbots Langley Cricket Club.

And before all the Saturday fun tonight we continue our T20 campaign away at Berkhamstead Cricket Club.

1’s away to St Margaretsbury Cricket Club 2’s home to Flamsted 3’s away to Cockfosters
And annoyingly our 4’s have had to cancel their game due to the wet weather, made even more annoying when you have players chomping at the bit to play! πŸŒ‚πŸŒ§ #englishsummer

A bit of a mix bag this weekend thanks to the weather.
1's and 2's both fell foul to the rain. 1's are still top (just) and the 2's remain in the bottom half with a big game next weekend.
3's had an excellent victory thanks to a super performance from the new Tyler on the block, Sam. Top scoring and taking 5 for 27. Thanks to Tristan for posing for the photo of the week, lack of jugs for drinks at Westwood Park.
... The 4th team came up against a very strong Bamville side and were comfortably beaten.
But yet again a great sign with us getting out 44 players.
Next week we have 4 games again on the Saturday as well as a T20 double header on the Sunday.

So are England going to win the World Cup?

What do you think, plumb or just sliding?
Great weekend for the club with 4 wins across 5 games. Highlights include:
Great win for the 1's defending 223 - Runs for Tom & Ed. Wickets for Ryan.
... The 2's struggled but good bowling performance from Luke Sutcliffe and runs for Neil.
The 3's smashed North Enfield. Excellent catching all round with an absolute hanger from Dave. Wickets for Tristan & runs for Martin.
The 4's also won with the ever wise Gary taking 4 wickets & Jonny Lyons smashing 73.
On Sunday we won our first T20 league game with 91 from Scott. Excellent bowling also from Penders and Luke again.

After week 2 of CWCC Fantasy, Ryan still holds the top spot with Freddie hot on his heels.
With four teams out this week there should be some big movers, but who is going to score those big runs and take those 5 fors? Scott is leading the way for MVP and Rob is on for the individual wooden spoon.
Remember one transfer allowed every week without point deduction and you are also allowed one free hit per season to re-choose your whole team, something i might suggest to our bottom of the league player Nigel!
