So week 3 of rehearsals for our 'Back To Broadway' concerts are done...... Those 3 weeks have certainly flown by! This week we discovered singing keeps us warm in this winter weather ❄⛄ #happysinging everyone🙂🎶

So what has been the highlight of your choir year in 2018??

Very special group of fellow singers- the best I have ever encountered- might be something to do with the leadership of the MD?! Most ironic moment? Singing 'Tulpen uit Amsterdam' in Dutch, the Saturday after Brexit, in a large Dutch church in Amsterdam and getting a standing ovation from the Dutch audience!

The weekly rehearsals are very enjoyable, but the shows at the end of the term are incredible! There is no feeling quite like belting out a show stopping number to a packed theatre of 1500 people. Our musical director writes really interesting arrangements of popular songs for us that are fun to sing and always have a little twist in them somewhere to make them unique.



I don't know that there is another choir out there that offers opportunities to complete beginners like Chorus does. I started having only ever having sung a bit in the shower, but with guidance and a wee bit of practise all of us as in the choir sing six part harmonies in foreign languages as a matter of routine!



There are lots of extra bits and bobs you can join in with too - local stuff like singing carols around Christmas markets and big gigs abroad like singing acapella in Notre Dame Cathedral. You don't have to audition for any of it or ever sing on your own if you don't want to - you just have to want to have a go! If you think it's beyond your abilities, it honestly isn't. The vast majority of the choir members have never done anything like this before they joined and a lot of us don't even read music!



I can't recommend Chorus enough - it's brilliant!

The idea of being in a choir doesn't fit with the Bad Girl edge (I like to think) I convey and most of my friends are still amused that I'm in a choir and not only that, that I have raved about it for the last 12 months! I love being a part of Chorus...its FUN, I laugh at each and every rehearsal, I am in complete awe of the music but the sound we make as a choir often gives me goosebumps...i once even cried during a performance of "Feed The Birds" and dramatically curled out my lips like a horse! Its fab being part of that and my choir buddies are lovely, supportive and fun. Ive met some really great people. Everyone is soooo welcoming. The MD puts everyone at ease and is just so lovely...he is completely bonkers too but he is incredible! It's true that singing is good for you...I always come out of rehearsal feeling uplifted even when i've had a naff couple of days. I come away from every show absolutely buzzing! I would recommend anyone to join this choir (even if you think you can't sing)...and dont worry about your bad girl edge because its not your run of the mill choir!! Love you all at Chorus! ��� Peace out! �

I started with Chorus in order to support my sister and it has now become almost an addiction. Always loved music and singing but never thought I'd be good enough to perform. It is entertaining, fun and excellent therapy when you're down. I am incredibly proud to be part of the Chorus family and what we achieve as a group.

I joined Chorus Sheffield two years ago to try and give myself a positive focus following lots of health issues and unpleasant stuff. Six concerts later, I still love it! There's nothing better than getting up on stage at the City Hall and performing to an audience, and I would encourage anyone to try it.

I joined Chorus 3 years ago as I wanted to be a little part of something big. It's been fantastic and I've met lots of lovely people. I'm really proud of what we achieve.

Great for anyone wishing to unload work stresses (or any other types of stressors) should be available on prescription. Highly recommended.

Chorus has changed my life... it brightens up every week and I would feel lost without it now. I've suffered with bad health for several years and chorus has not only helped cheer me up on bad days but have always been really accomodating both at rehearsals, concerts and trips allowing for what I'm able to do.

The rehearsals are so much fun and the concerts give you an amazing feeling of achievement.

Every term has different music, and there's always something different to everyone's taste.

You don't just join a choir, you join a new family. ��

Chorus choirs are wonderful.

As a relatively new member I have enjoyed the singing,concerts and meeting some wonderful people.

Chorus has made me join Facebook !!!! Something I thought I would never do as an avid fan of Twitter but here I am 😃😃 Thanks Andy

Chorus Sheffield keeps me sane in winter and exuberant in summer. Other towns are just as fabu-less. What a family of joy.
