Friendly, knowledgeable service at fantastic prices, a great place to know

I found Chris thoroughly unhelpful when I enquired about buying a bike on the cycle to work scheme. It was all too much trouble for him, he wouldn't give me a proper written quote and wouldn't even let me see the bike I was interested in buying. Needless to say I didn't go back. My recommendation: avoid at all costs.

Yes, I am a real person and this is a genuine review of my experience in your shop. That kind of arrogant comment kind of sums up your attitude towards customers. (This is a response to a comment Chris made about questioning if I was a real person).

So what is your current policy on providing written quotes? When I asked for one your response was: "I don't like writing anything down". After I said I needed one for the cycle to work scheme the best I got was a figure written down on a scrap of paper, which was frankly useless. (Chris has yet to respond to this question!).

Come on Chris, what is your current policy on providing written quotes? He is quick to question my integrity but won't answer a simple question.

Much better service and price than other establishments around Cambridge. Bike repaired there and then. Definitely worthy of 5 stars.

Good service - most recently used Chris for bike box hire (he rents out the excellent bike box alan which I recommend if your planning to take your own bicycle on a cycle holiday) and in the past resolving bike problems. Very knowledgeable on the French cols.

Great service by a knowledgeable expert. I bought a new bike here and Chris sussed out my requirements and recommended a Fahrradverkehr bicycle. I've been using it day in day out for the last 2 years now and it hasn't let me down yet. Other sellers would have tried to sell me a needlessly expensive thing, Chris got me exactly what I needed.

A proper bicycle shop, friendly helpful service and really looking to sell you what you need instead of what would benefit the business, so much so that I went in for one rear light and the owner without asking broke a pack of two lights and sold me just one of the lights! I don't know of any shop which would do that these days. I can't recommend it enough!

Bringing my bike to Chris was the best idea I could have. Very quick service, my bike was fixed in less than half an hour and the attention was exceptional. The result is way better than I expected, I highly recommend this place. Very satisfied.

I wish more shops were like this. Chris is a good guy who knows his stuff and is incredibly helpful. He goes the extra yard truly to listen to people and understand what they need (and what they don't need). He looks after the bikes for my whole family and I feel good knowing that they are safer as a result. He is patient, helpful and has a wonderfully dry sense of humour. Try him.

I bought a new Giant Defy from Chris at a great price last year - he is a cycling enthusiast and I found him to be very knowledgeable and helpful. The bike has been super too. Highly recommend!

I came with my cycle for a new valve. After 10 minutes, the work was already done. A great and fast service!

I bought a beautiful bike from Chris ten years ago and it is still wonderful to ride and completely reliable. He services my bike every year and it has never let me down. Even my front dynamo still works (someone crashed into the back one recently). He always gives great advice, really knows his stuff and is often even more concerned than I am to make sure I get the best value for money.

There is a certain smugness that comes from knowing someone who does something very well. Especially as Chris is tucked away in Girton, one might think one is the only one who knows about him. I was surprised therefore when I set up the cycle-to-work scheme for my company and had colleagues come to me wanting to buy bikes from Chris - I had no idea he was such a Cambridge legend! As a footnote, we had no problem buying bikes from Chris under this scheme. His German-built VSF bikes are excellent and were very popular.
