Jesus Shaped People
We are considering using the “Jesus Shaped People” programme – a “whole church discipleship adventure” as it says. Rev. Gordon Dey, the course designer, come and speak to us after our morning service 3rd March. As usual, there will be a bring & share after the service that morning, and then there will be time to hear about the programme, and ask questions about what it entails. This is an important event, so please do make every effort to be there!
Christ Church Cleaning
Monday 4th February, 10am – 12noon Followed by soup lunch.
... Another chance to help get our church clean and tidy following the works that have been done. Come along and help get rid of the rubbish, clean and tidy things, and help sort out all those little ‘niggles’!

Silent Auction
Friday 8th February, 7 – 10pm at Christ Church
Imogen & Anthea from SharX have a fantastic opportunity to volunteer in Uganda in August 2019.... This is a fundraising event – There will be hampers, Experience Sessions, Sweet Tombola, Nail Bar, etc. Tickets £4, including Pie & Pea supper.

Musical Get-together
Thursday 14th February, 7.00 for 7.30pm start at Christ Church
... If you enjoy playing an instrument, then get together with other like-minded people! A chance firstly to worship together, to practice together, enjoy each others’ company, and to look towards playing for special occasions – Easter? Benefice Day Away
Saturday 6th April, 10am – 6.30pm
Get the date in your diary now! We are organising the first of our ‘days away’ as parishes together to capture some of the energy of the parish weekend, but more local and much cheaper!... We are still working on a local venue, but we expect the day to contain worship, teaching, discussion, activities together, and lunch & tea together as well. A fantastic opportunity to build relationships, grow in faith and have fun together as well – all at minimal cost (max. £10 per person). Put your name on the list at the back of church so we can begin to gauge how many will be coming.

Celebrating the work at Christ Church

Communications Co-ordinator
In order to better promote good communications within our congregations, between our congregations and to those who are not yet part of our congregations, we are looking for someone who might relish the challenge! You need to be passionate about people, good at communicating in a variety of ways (face-to-face, printed, electronic), and have the time to get to know what’s happing in and across our churches. If you might be interested, have a word with John.

Please note that from this term, the scouts have new times (all still on Tuesdays during term time at Christ Church):
5.30 – 6.30pm Beavers (age 6-8)... 6.30 – 8.00pm Cubs (age 8-11) 7.00 – 8.30pm Scouts (age 11-14)

Joint Working Group
We previously agreed a group from both churches would co-ordinate joint events so they were truly joint. St. Augustine’s have appointed their three members, but Christ Church would like to invite offers from people who would like to be involved. Soft Toys Needed
I am once again collecting soft toys for a stall at Christ Church Craft Fairs. Your help is very much appreciated with this. If you have any soft toys that you no longer need please consider donating them to me to use. All proceeds go to Christ Church. St. Augustine’s Centre 50th Anniversary Service
Sunday 20th January, 4.00pm at Halifax Minster
... Put the date in your diary now! A great time to gather together and give thanks to God for all the good things he has done through the work of the Centre over the last 50 years. Bishop Tony, the Bishop of Wakefield, will be preaching at this service, and we will be telling the story of the Centre and how it has changed over the 50 years. Everyone is welcome, of whatever faith or understanding, to celebrate this amazing organisation!
