Lots of action at the beaches this morning! Our contractors have been busy over the last few weeks recovering material locally from off-shore and using it to replenish our beaches. They have been working eastwards from Gundimore/Avon and are currently topping up the area at Friars Cliff in front of the wave wall. Perfect timing for the coming sunny weekend, enjoy everyone ☀️

Highcliffe Beach Clean Group have their second litter pick next weekend. If you want to help keep our beautiful coastline litter free, then you know where to be on Sunday 24th June!! 😉🗑️🏖️

The flags are back! 😁 Now happily flying once again at Avon, Friars Cliff and Highcliffe. It seems they have been sorely missed and not for the reason we were expecting....so many of you have told us you rely upon them for information about wind speed and direction and have been lost without them...we never realised how multi-functional they were!

It was the warmest day of the year so Avon beach was really busy, too busy for us. It was quieter on the spit and walking at Hengistbry head. Also, the ferry from Christchurch to mudeford spit through the harbour was really tranquil.

I used to like visiting Steamer Point as it is dog friendly and normally very scenic. Today however, it was like a giant oil slick. There was a nasty scum covering the whole stretch of coast where people were still unbelievably bathing. Can't help thinking that the numerous jet-skis and power boats offering pleasure rides close to shore had something to do with it. Shame that a few have to ruin it for the many.
