To be asked by any wedding venue to be a recommended supplier is a big deal but when a venue as beautiful as Norwood Park asks, you do a little dance inside! I've been there photographing their beautiful new rooms and we managed to sneak in a little bridal shoot.

I think there's a certain amount of parental anxiety when you go some where with your young children. Like tonight we went for tea to celebrate me turning one more year older and we had everything crossed our beautiful 5 month old didn't have a melt down as she missed a nap. She didn't but if she had it wouldn't have mattered it's anxiety we had put on ourselves. When you come to my studio there's no need to worry about any of that. Kids scream, cry have tantrums that's all normal behaviour.
I put no pressure on kids to perform or try make them do anything apart explore and have fun which these guys did perfectly!

Spending a bit of time with your future bride and groom on their pre wedding shoot is a lovely thing to do. Theres plenty of anxiety to deal with ahead of your big day and I know as much as any one how awful it can be having your picture taken but the dread soon disappears when your in the hands of a skilled professional it may not be such a bad experience 😁
I had a great few hours with these guys around York city centre

I really love it when a team of people come together to create images that reflect something real and important. Here are a few images I'm thankful to be able to share from a recent wet and windy shoot day in Cleethorpes.
The brief was to create a set of images that show the important roles carers have to play in peoples lives that need them.
We owe a huge thanks to local businesses allowing us to use their premises as our back drops including Parkway Cinema, Moon On The W...ater and Cleethorpes Library.

There are 3 things I bare in mind during every portrait sitting or in fact any type of photography job.
- It has to be fun. If the kids are having fun, the parents are having fun. If everyones have fun, i'm having fun! Its a lovely circle of fun!
- Be friendly! It sounds obvious but not everyone is. I have bad days... I've got kids! I can leave the house after telling my own little monster off or having a row with my partner. But as soon as I see my client that gets put to th...e back on the mind as the people that have employed me deserve me at my best. I am also aware I'm a 6ft 1, 15 stone bearded man so making sure little ones know i'm a friendly chap is a must.
- Noooooooo posing! I mean your sat in front of a camera so there's some direction from me but no laying on your tummies with your head in your hands. I want natural re actions so we play games, the kids will run off going crazy because I've wound them up a bit. I may even get something playfully thrown at me (mud, sticks... a toy!) but this is done in jest. Parents can be mortified by this but I don't mind it as its making my life capturing natural portraits a lot easier!
I had so much fun getting to know these guys playing monsters and jumping off fallen trees it was well worth getting the odd bit of mud and leaves put on top of my head! Hannah Louise Butler

I'm so glad we found this park at yesterday's wedding. I'm also very glad these guys were the type of people that were very happy to go to the park on their wedding day!
What a fantastic day these guys had!

I have been in the studio so much this year it's been really nice to get outside again and get and capture some family portraits out doors. Especially of these crazy kids! It was a very fun walk through the woods with these guys, we definitely captured lots of great pictures for them to look back on.

If it rains when your taking pictures you work with the rain and have some fun. I'd travelled about 90mins to see this lovely family who I've been photographing for since their son was a baby when the heavens opened not long after arriving and now way was a bit of rain going to ruin things!
I asked them to head in doors to get some fun shots of a what a family may do on a rainy day and when it cleared we headed out for some puddle jumping!

Studio photography doesn't alway lend itself to creating natural portraits as realistically you've driven there to have your pictures taken on a set with studio lighting and I'm there pretty clearly with my camera taking your pictures. BUT what you can do in a studio is capture natural expressions and create an environment for children where its not intimidating and a space they feel comfortable to play in so I can be there to capture some real natural moments.
I loved how this big brother kept running on to the set to grab a cuddle with his little brother you can't fake that kind of love!

Taking away distractions and focusing on those little interaction is my favourite thing to do in the studio.
These guys recently came in to the studio and we had loads of fun just letting the kids play and have fun allowing me to capture their little personalities.

Cake smash portrait sittings are great! It's now become a little time honoured tradition when a little one reaches their 1st birthday they get to learn the art of the cake smash!
The actual cake smash comes right at the end of the portrait sitting. First of all we capture lots of portraits that can include siblings and the whole family.
I had this very fun family in the studio to celebrate their daughter turning one which turned out to be a bit more of a cake eat portrait se...ssion!
