Chutneys is the oldest surviving Indian restaurant in the Oxford City. A tribute perhaps, to our belief in good customer service, quality produce and the importance of a comfortable environment for our guests to appreciate the wonders served up by our kitchen.
Our menus are based on the highest quality produce and fresh seasonal ingredients from all corners of South East Asia.
We specialise in a large variety of dishes from the sub-continent whether they are vegetarian or non-vegetarian. We use 100% vegetarian oil, containing no cholesterol. All ingredients are carefully sourced and we never use artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
The restaurant has been the rendezvous of rich, famous, and fashionable lovers of Indian food. Customers included President of America Bill Clinton, President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, Hon. Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge former Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

From all at Chutneys Our condolences to the family of Eric Bristow who passed away yesterday We have a lost a true gent and a great character. It was an honour having him dine at Chutneys a few years ago. He absolutely destroyed the vindaloo and he asked for it to be extra hot!
And the memory of the game of darts I had with him at Corals bookmakers (he was chief guest for the opening) the next day will never leave me. It was a great buzz 90 minutes spent with him at the res...taurant and 30 minutes the next day. Absolute magic but that was Eric. He even gave us his managers number so we could keep in touch.
For those of us fortunate to have grown up in the 80ŌĆÖs and 90ŌĆÖs We witnessed some great household names and Eric was the right up there with the biggest draws this country had at the time and he was brilliant on the oche a true champion in all aspects of life

Went on Saturday night and the food was delicious. 3 of us went and had three different dishes and we all loved it. Extremely tasty.

Simple d├®cor, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, excellent central location. Have I forgotten something? Ah, oh, yes, the food (KNEW there was something): great vegetarian cooking full of richness and warmth. Could maybe give an indication of 'heat' on the menu, though we did forget to ask.
Just one little request for all you British (and others) within reach: Go there often, and order all the gulab jamon you can eat, that way mine host will order plenty in. They couldn't have it when we were there, not enough demand.

Great contemporary venue and great food. Always make an effort to come here to eat when visiting Oxford. Very friendly and accommodating staff that always go the extra mile. I would definitely put this in my curry house top 5! :)

Easy booking, tasty fresh food with a friendly service, cannot recommend this place enough.
Booked a table just after they opened at 5.30 and the staff, food and whole meal was awesome... even though we were the first visitors for half an hour or so... food was delicious. Thoroughly recommend Chutneys to anyone visiting Oxford ’┐Į’┐Į
Always the best Indian food in town, warm welcome and great service regardless of the hour.
Food was good service was good and enjoyed a good evening with the tour lads would definitely come again
disappointing Lamb Korma have had much better kormas elsewhere but worst if all was the squeaky door to the kitchen ŌĆ” so easily fixable but it wasn't. Staff friendly, and welcoming but 1 was dressed dressed too sloppily.
