Ladies 2XI Match Report Well ladies, the hockey season has started again and all those summer ice-creams and lack of exercise always seem to pile up! So, in order to sort this out, the ladies 2XI team were up very bright and early! Ready and keen to play for a 9am pushback against Chippenham 2’s. As with every first game, it’s safe to say that the team were getting to know each other and remembering which way round to hold the stick. This having been said, the score did no...t reflect the effort, positive performance and teamwork which the ladies showed today. The first half saw Chippenham put away two early goals, before the ball was worked up the wing, for Bizzie to be set up beautifully by Emma H. At 2-1 there was some great ball work, working in triangle and some fantastic runs. The defence worked incredibly hard, shutting down Chippenham’s constant attacks. With Gemma and Phil holding together the middle of defence, and Nicki and Row provided constant support on the wings. A short corner for Chippenham and a drag flick into our fearless captain shoulder, led to another goal. With the score at 3-1, it was time to do something to narrow the gap. Vicky, whose constant running and effort must be mentioned, worked the ball up the field to Amber, who then assisted Phil to get the 2nd goal. Alas, one more goal was to be conceded in this half, with Pat gaining the TFC title, for a fantastic own goal. The second half saw a massive improvement in structure on the pitch and constant pressure on the ball. With some fantastic work up the wings between the mid-field and forwards and a strong defence, the game ended 6-2. MOM this week had many nominations, including Gemma, Phil, Amber, Plumey and Bizzie, so it’s safe to say, an all-round fantastic team effort and looking forwards to next week already.
