Benefit rises will be indexed in line with the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) after being frozen since 2015/2016, according to the government.
Although Citizens Advice welcomes the move in part , the Charity says income-related benefits by the CPI will still leave 38 percent of households with a negative budget by 2024.

Gas and electricity customers will receive automatic compensation of £30 from May if their switch to a new provider goes wrong, announced energy regulator Ofgem.
Citizens Advice reacted to the changes as Chief Executive Dame Gillian Guy said: “These new protections should give more people the confidence to shop around and find the best deals.”

MPs ended the benefits freeze yesterday by agreeing to increase income-related benefits by inflation.
However Citizens Advice research shows that almost 4 in 10 households that seek debt advice will still not have enough money to cover their costs by 2024 , leading many to choose between eating and heating.

Debt on household bills are on the increase as the busiest time for debt advice continues.
Joe Lane, Citizens Advice principal policy manager said, "The big trend is that we are helping more and more people with debts on household bills, that's things like their council tax arrears or fuel arrears, rather than things like credit card debts or personal loan debts.”
