My husband received a 1/2 day flying experience for his birthday in January and today he did it! Martin Rushbrooke was his instructor and he was fantastic from start to finish! I was lucky enough to be a passenger so I was able to sit back and relax whilst taking in the beautiful views and listening to interesting facts to go with them.

We’ve been talking about it since we came home! Please pass on our thanks to Martin. He really made our day one to remember.

My Son Cheereece was gifted the experience of Flying a helicopter with Helicentre and we all had an amazing time watching and taking photos. The team was superb and so welcoming and informative. Cheereece relates his experience as second to none. He is totally Inspired and this has given him a new lease of life enjoyment in a social interest and possible career path. This experience build Aspiration for young people and broaden life interest. We will be returning as my younger son now wants to have a go. Spectacular start to our Saturday sharing happy life long memories. Thank you Helicentre and City Airport. Xx

Love this place. Took my kiddies today and we had a lovely snack whilst watching the planes and the kiddies played on the park. Would definitely recommend

If your little one likes anything that flys, this is a great little freebie. Pick a nice day and take a picnic. Free parking. Very reasonable cafe on sight. Outdoor play area. We will definitely be coming back !! Xx

User

I flew into Barton yesterday for lunch (it’s been on my “airfields to visit” list for a while). Very friendly staff, reasonable landing fees, and easy to fly into. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

City Airport Manchester (formerly known as Barton Aerodrome) has undergone a refurbishment of most areas. There is plenty of free parking and a very reasonably priced Runway26 cafe/restaurant . An outside decking and kids play area means that the kids can play safely whilst the adults relax and enjoy the menu available. Picnic tables are available and an observation deck on the historic control tower will give a great view on the planes. There are regular events throughout the year and a new membership scheme through Friends of Barton Aerodrome.

Beautiful place, fun for kids, nice summer fun fair

Visited yesterday for the Christmas party. My daughter enjoyed herself especially the magic show at the end. The down side to it was there was already a santa getting out of a helicopter when we arrived at 2.15pm which wasn't very helpful when the children are supposed to see Santa ARRIVE by helicopter. Got told this was a different company santa, but why let them do santa flights on the same day as a children's Christmas party. Also, the santa that was used needs get into the festive spirit, it is Christmas and try and wish people 'Merry Christmas' instead of just saying 'thank you'. Plus, there isn't enough seats for everyone so can be very crowded. Apart from that my daughter had fun but I don't think we will be going next year.

User

Attended the kids day out / at the beach funfair and it was very average. Most of the rides were for very small kids.

Ate in the cafe, waited 30 minutes for our food and when it arrived it was terrible. The chicken and bacon sandwich had no filling and if it hadn’t been so busy I’d have complained but we’d waited too long as it was.

User

We attended the fireworks yesterday as it was advertised as it being quiet with no bangs. In fact you advised that autistic children loved it last year.

To try to be fair to people stuck in traffic the mini display was initially delayed however for those of us already in the rain and cold it wasn’t the best (no information was given at the time about the delay). The first couple of fireworks were great and then the bangs started. My autistic daughter became hysterical and so we needed to leave quickly.

Unfortunately there had been no planning for people needing to leave early, however a makeshift plan was put together for two marshals to guide us (and a few others behind us) through the fair and the crowds to enable us to leave.

We paid full price tickets £21 for 3 of us and more money on the overpriced burgers and fairground stalls (we stayed around half an hour).

There was a positive however and that was the singer. She was good and we liked her.

I strongly feel that your advertising was very misleading and caused my daughter and ultimately us lots of distress through your lack of understanding and knowledge. Don’t pretend to be something you are not. By all means have a firework display and make your money just don’t rip off us off. We would never have come and put my daughter through the anxiety that fireworks brings!

User

Long long wait but main display was good in the end.( Even tho we had to sit for over an hour in the car and watch from there after standing outside for an hour) Fairground let it down rides way over priced and lasted about 20 seconds each. Cost me £50 for kids to go on 4 Rides!!

User

A real shame. Paid for the event and very nearly abandoned it after waiting around for the main display for an hour or more. After the small display was also late by over 30 minutes. The road works and traffic to the event certainly didn't help.

No updates throughout the evening to inform anyone on what was happening, saw plenty of people leaving.

The weather didn't help at all, freezing cold and wet and queues were ridiculous for food/drink (not to mention overpriced. £2.50 for a cheap coffee)

Lack of lighting around the place other than the fun fair

That said, the fireworks weren't too bad in the end. A bonfire would have added some enjoyment (and warmth) but for a paid for event it was poorly organised, and disappointing. Will attend a free one next year.

User

What an absolute diabolical excuse for a dog and baby friendly firework display.

We were thinking it would be quite laid back but sirens going off, music absolutely deafening, flashing strobe lights, queues for 30 minutes for a coffee and after getting stuck in traffic for over an hour just to get in then no lighting or traffic control to get out. Everyone should have a refund. Those fireworks must have been a £20 box from Morrisons, joke!!!!!

User

Very very poor fireworks event! Will not be attending again and will be seeking a refund and an explanation as to why there were cars driving through the crowd at one point!!! Very disappointed 2 year old after waiting for a hour for the main event before we decided to leave. Understaffed and overpriced!

User

This review is just for the *FIREWORK SPECTACULAR*

My wife & I attended Saturday nights shambolic offering and found ourselves completely let down.

We have been to a number of events at Barton in the past all of which are well planned and organized. Sadly this does not apply to last night's shambles.

Parking up was on a grass field in the dark. The lack of lighting continued to the main public area in front of the stage. 2 or 3 stalls that were in virtual darkness....no idea what they were selling. If anything. The pop-up bar in the hangar selling over priced cans!

Then there was the distinct lack of toilet facilities. 2 Portaloos near the fair. A few rides very close together so no room to walk through. Then once away from the fair plunged back into darkness as no lighting on the pathways or in front of the clubhouse.

Both fireworks displays were OK but the delays and lack of info left people bored, dejected and in a fair number of cases leaving before the main event.

Having paid online I'm glad I saved a few quid versus lon the day prices! However I won't be coming to next year's!

If a refund is available I'd appreciate it!

User

Really disappointed. We wanted to try something different this year and paid £15 for a family of four. We knew that the rides were extra, but £15 for each ride we went on as a family is extortionate! The venue was crowded and the car park management poor. People queuing trying to get in and again trying to get out. The first fireworks display was half an hour late, we gave up waiting on the main display because there was no where to get out of the bad weather and the display was so much later than advertised. We spent nearly £70 all in, and the best bit of the evening according to the kids, was the hot chocolates on the way home. Never again.

User

Really annoyed at the waste of time and Money. a complaint will be lodged, no one thought about having someone on main road to help the traffic flow and that's what's causing all chaos down through to Eccles! Total joke, then once u in the parking is a shambles and disorganised meaning a lot are blocked in. They had no way out planned as we just left and it was a disaster. Good job no safety threat as no one gonna be getting anywhere fast.

Feel sorry for people working it as no one seems to be taking control.

Left before main fireworks total wash out! Unhappy kids and fuming parents feeling annoyed at cost for nothing.

User

Paid £15 for a family of 4 for the fireworks display to have to turn around as we was stuck in traffic for almost an hour and wasn't even half way there

Absolutely gutted kids was looking forward to it

So was we as our daughter has autism and normal fireworks are to loud for her so this seemed like a good idea with it being quite fireworks

Surely they was aware of the road works etc and could of let people know via the Facebook page

User

Paid for 3pm to 6pm for four children, children went on a couple of rides that were basic marketplace roundabouts then nipped to the loo when it started to rain. Came back out to all of the rides being closed. Not because of the rain but simply because it wasn't busy enough for them. Paid £20 and drove an hour for the children to be upset and disappointed and have to drive home in rush hour. Asked for a refund and was told no but offered A RIDE ticket for each child. Obviously not worth driving back for!

Was also told by one of the workers 'why would we stay open, there's nobody here.'

Well there was, US! Who had paid to be there!
