About City Of Birmingham Rockets Basketball Club

City of Birmingham Rockets Basketball Club - Developing Basketball In Birmingham Since 2003

City Of Birmingham Rockets Basketball Club Description

From the start it was decided that City Of Birmingham Basketball Club needed to:

■ Provide England Basketball (EB) Qualified Coaches
■ Provide opportunities for boys and girls up to the age of 18 and, as and when possible financially, to provide opportunities beyond the age of 18
■ Enter teams from U13 to U18 in the National England Basketball Leagues
■ Develop relationships with schools in the area and offer Basketball awareness to local Primary Schools
■ Hold Open Trials each year so that ANYONE interested in Basketball could have an opportunity to further their talents
■ Develop our players from a young age and continue that development as they progress through the age groups in the club
■ Provide Coaching and Game opportunities at the lowest possible cost commensurate with the use of a high standard of facilities.
■ Keep costs low none of the Coaches or Volunteers are paid: all give their time out of a commitment to develop Basketball in the area.
■ Most importantly, to provide a welcoming, friendly and sociable Club in which all members are treated with respect, as individuals and enabled to develop their Basketball to the highest level possible

We still have some opportunities for a few families to host a child (or 2) for our Euro Exchange project .....if you are interested in being involved please let us know asap!
Our club have been invited to join in a European Project called Europod which would see us host 6 boys and girls and 2 adults from Lyon, France from 29th June - 5th July on a sporting/ cultural visit.
The project will include French children staying with some of our club families and joining together for... a variety of activities in and around Birmingham.
We are looking for families to host a child or 2 and the adults for the 6 day visit. The children are aged 13-15- there is a 50 euro contribution from each child for food/ living expenses and if the host families child wants to join in the visits activities a letter will be provided requesting the week off school.
This is an amazing opportunity for young people to gain an incredible experience with a French child and we hope in future to be able to visit Lyon on a return trip!
If you would like to get involved and host a child then please contact us at enquiries@cobbasketball.co.uk

Our Under 11 Rockets White team put up a tremendous effort against a very good Worcester Bears team in today’s YBL Final.
The team did the club proud fighting back from 18 down to within 1 basket with 2 mins to go. Unfortunately after a key injury Worcester Bears pulled away to win 43-55.
Coach Mark Evans said, “ We are really proud of the development from a young squad and some excellent individual performances bode well for the future.”
... We pass on our congratulations to Worcester Bears for an excellentseadon.
