City Shorinji Kempo

Summer Camp 2018 is currently scheduled for the weekend of the 18th / 19th August, but has not yet been finalised. I have made a quick survey is to gauge kenshi demand and preferences prior to confirming the arrangements.
- The venue would be CitySport in London (124 Goswell Rd, EC1V 7DP). - The cost is likely to be ~£45 for the training (venue hire / instructors' fees), not including travel / accommodation / food. - If there is not enough interest (numbers) we will not go ah...ead with the event.

Calling all armchair kenshi: I have been mysteriously persuaded to participate in the 2018 Rat Race Dirty Weekend on Saturday May 12th, a 20 mile obstacle race.
Having tried vaguely to organize a kempo group to take part in the past, it seems like 'rely on yourself' is in fact the way to go. Regular visitors to this page will know that we are a group of people who enjoy meeting at the Sutton Arms and occasionally also do some martial arts training. In case anyone forgot about the last part, this is a gentle reminder that we had one such session - call it a 'class' if you like - on Monday, and will have another today, and then again next week likewise and on into the future. What makes these classes really work for you is if you actually turn up. One day I will get round to sprinkling social media with helpful video clips of complex kempo techniques, but in the meantime you will have to actually attend this class to find out how to become one with the force or whatever it is we actually do. So see you later then, preferably at the bit before the Sutton Arms.

This year's Central London Branch new year's social will be held on Saturday, 13th January, starting at 6pm. All Kenshi, including partners, are welcome. The venue will be the same as last year, at:

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR! Following last week's final session in 2017, we want to wish you all best wishes for Christmas and New Year. We look forward to welcoming you back on Mon 8th January to burn off all that turkey!

There will be a normal Kempo class at CitySport tonight. However, if you want to participate in the SOAS closing ceremony, feel free to head over to Russell Square from 7pm.

To all City Kenshi - we will visit the SOAS branch for the class next Wednesday December 6th. Location is the SOAS main / union building off Russell Square, at 7pm. There will also be a beginners' only grading for City, SOAS and Imperial students during the class. It should be a fun and busy session so please come along to train, participate or support. There will be no Kempo class at CitySport that evening.

Good news for anyone looking for some extra prep ahead of the December grading...

Gassho All, There will be a one-day tournament (Taikai) and training seminar on Sunday 19th November in Hackney, London (venue details will be announced shortly). Whether you are a beginner or an advanced kenshi, you should consider participating in the Taikai either by taking part in Embu (pair form demo), Tanen (single form demo/kata) and/ or Randori (sparing) competitions or just attending the seminar.
