Join Ed as he takes a long hard look at himself and tries to decide if he has ANY traits that are worth passing on to his children.
Ed Byrne presents his brand-new masterclass in observational comedy hot on the heels of his 17/18 Touring hit, Spoiler Alert! A TV household name, in the past year Ed has appeared on Live At The Apollo (Host, BBC), Mock The Week (BBC), The Pilgrimage (BBC), Top Gear (BBC) and QI (BBC).

One of Britain's leading one-liner comics returns to the road with another onslaught of lean, expertly crafted gaggery. A Mock The Week regular and recent star of the new Live At The Apollo series, Gary's shows are renowned in the business for a near unrivalled volume of high-class gags. You should expect no different from this. Please note Coolio will not be appearing.

What a gem of a theatre: beautifully preserved, alive and well and welcoming acts and audiences alike. The ghosts of the Greats who have graced your stage only add to the magnificent ambiance. Mind you, I enjoyed Andrew Newton's Hypnotism Show last night which justifies the 'Varieties' in your name! Lucky lucky Leeds!

User

Went to The Circus of Horrors last night & it was amazing! Well done for having the confidence to take on a show with so much fire & fireworks, absolutely brilliant act booking there! The theatre itself is beautiful with great architecture & features, its also a nice intimate size so wherever you sit you are close enough to see what is happening even if you are on balcony seats. The ushers are friendly and helpful. Is a gem of a venue.

We saw "Made in the Great War" last night, the story of Sam Sweeny's fiddle made by a Leeds man, Ron Howard. Ron was a musician and fiddle maker who played at City Varieties regularly until his conscription after which he went to the front and was killed at Messine Ridge.

Sam and friends told the story and played the fiddle to a spellbound audience in a venue virtually unchanged since Ron played there.

Watching positive vibes on Saturday , fantastic show with some very talented people , all raising funds to help people suffering from cancer , well done everyone , and the theatre is lovely , brilliant day all round

User

This lovely old theatre lives up to its reviews. The staff were lovely and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The bar staff were also very pleasant. The theatre has been tastefully refurbished. We had an excellent evening.

User

Thank you Widow Twanky for wishing me a happy birthday and not revealing a ladies age!!! So much fun this afternoon, a great show xx

User

My daughter and I loved the Horrible Histories show this afternoon! Very entertaining and funny! The staff at the theatre we're all so lovely, very welcoming and helpful! We will most definitely return! Many Thanks!

User

Loved the show went with my 7 yr old daughter her third panto in a space of a few weeks. It was so good and the actors amazed us by playing all of the instruments themselves (must be tiring) but they were so professional. Sense of humour for all ages and we both laughed danced and sung through out the show. A big fan and will be back next year. The ushers and front of house staff were lovley and so ever helpful. A lovley saturday afternoon out creating memories.

User

Last night was my first time at City Varieties Music Hall (seeing the wonderful John Bishop). I've walked past the alley way many times and had no idea it was there. It's a hidden gem and I'll certainly keep an eye out for future events

User

Katie Piper: What's In My Head LIVE! A superb evening! A beautiful venue, a fantastic show and the staff are top notch!! Supreme stuff!! :)

User

It's been too long since my last visit to The City Varieties - the theatre was impressive and has been tastefully renovated. The staff were efficient and welcoming. It has a great atmosphere as we felt connected to the performers. The show was excellent - professional musicians giving a fantastic night out. We loved it and they loved playing to an appreciative audience. We've already looked to see details of future shows.

User

It was the first time I've been to the Good Old Days yesterday evening and it was a step back in time; not just the performance and the theatre, but the staff were SO helpful and the audience were a polite and friendly older crowd. It was just lovely and I plan to attend City Varieties more often. I'm ashamed to say that although I've been in Leeds 20 years I've only just started to look at City Varieties for entertainment instead of the Grand and WYP. The Grand has dreadful acoustics and the WYP is great but has none of the character of City Varieties.

User

Fantastic Venue and A Great Way To Spend an Evening...Highly Recommended. The Staff are Superb...An Absolute Credit To All Involved...!!!

User

Came here to see lee nelson and thought the theatre was lovely :-) nicely maintained and small venue you could sit anywhere and not feel far from the stage. I was in the front row and its exceptionally close to the stage... lovely evening.

User

Went to see The Full Monty last night with my daughter, it wasn't what we were expecting to begin with as all the references were to America but it did get better as it went on

We were sat on the front row and had neck ache with looking up so would sit further back next time. Love going to the City Varieties as it's such a lovely interior and full of history.

User

We travelled from Leicester to see 'The Good Old Days' and had dressed up specially for the occasion. The theatre was beautiful and is kept in good order front of house staff were welcoming and we especially enjoyed the comic magician who was very entertaining. Then Marti Webb, who had sung a medley of Marie Lloyd earlier appeared on stage in a modern costume and proceeded to sing her favourite songs from her favourite musicals, all of which she had featured in at one time or another. These were all 20th century shows/songs not the Victorian entertainment we were expecting. This took the shine off an otherwise excellent afternoons entertainment. An odd interpretation of 'The Good Old Days'.

User

Went to see circus of horrors on 20th march not as good as when i saw it a few years ago a little too much smut and not enough acts for me. Hosts mike packed up and his spare didnt work towards end not very professional. Would i go again to see it no not worth the cost need more acts in the show

User

Show was great, (Manfreds), but it was unbearably hot. No aircon, and they didn't even leave the auditorium doors open. I know that the building is listed, but really? If the auditorium is full of electronic devices, surely aircon isn't a step too far?

User

Good little venue, easy viewing of the stage, but 10.60 for a bottle of becks and vodka and coke! Use the bar next door at half time interval
