Charity fundraising for ‘Emmaus’ & specialised catering equipment is now in full swing with the delicious cakes level 1 catering made & raffle tickets for the amazing prizes Level 3 put together, being sold all over college. Charity fundraiser week is raring to go now! Level 1 catering students started baking cupcakes last week and have now finished icing them ready for the first sales tomorrow morning as students begin walking to every corner of the college with donation pots in hand. Look out for some delicious home made cakes everyone and support a great cause!

Work is already under way in the Level 1 kitchen towards our very exciting charity event next week! Our Level 1 catering students play the first, very important role in making hundreds of cupcakes that will be sold all over college next week to begin raising money for the student nominated charity ‘Emmaus’ in Greenwich. Watch this space as the events unfold next week culminating in the student led, evening fine dining event on Thursday 22nd. We can’t wait for your cupcakes to come our way level 1!

We are very excited to see that our former catering student Tristan is on ‘Master Chef-The Professionals’! Last night Tristan made it through to the next round with his superb razor clam & gurnard with squid ink tuile and seaweed powder dish.

It was such a pleasure to welcome Thomas Tallis back to City View again this year for our ‘run the restaurant’ day led by the Shooters’ Hill Level 2 and 3 Hospitality students. Throughout the day Thomas Tallis learnt to fold linen napkins, safely and hygienically polish cutlery & glassware, lay a professional table setting to industry standards and take orders. They had a tour of the department including our commercial kitchens and outlets and then enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared & served by the Shooters' Hill students. The day finished with the ever popular Mocktail making session and a fun filled competition. Much fun was had by all and lovely to meet this year’s Y11 Thomas Tallis students. We all look forward to having you back next year.

Every year, the students of the Hospitality & Catering department research and then vote for a charity to fundraise for, to help them develop their enterprise and employability skills. Former students also come back to support the event, designing dishes and working on the evening event as well as to support the cause. This year they voted for ‘Emmaus...’ the local Plumstead charity that generates most of its income via their second hand goods shops. Emmaus works to end homelessness and supports homeless people back into work and housing. We are delighted the students have chosen such a relevant and poignant charity. Some of the funds raised by students will also be used to purchase specialist equipment to support the students learning. It has been a great first term for the hospitality & catering department. We’ve gone from strength to strength, celebrating all kinds of achievements including certificate presentations & successful open events not to mention the wonderful food and beverages enjoyed by our countless happy customers. It was a real pleasure to be able to issue certificates yesterday to the latest group of hospitality & catering students who have successfully achieved their Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety qualification. We are extremely proud of our 5 star hygiene rating in the hospitality & catering department, and training our students to such a high standard is one of the ways we maintain it. Well done team :)

The hospitality & catering department was delighted to be able to take part in Shooters’ Hill’s first open event of the year on Saturday. Despite the dreary weather, we were incredibly impressed with how many of our new and returning level 1, 2 & 3 students volunteered to help showcase our fantastic department. Lots of our students are new to the college and department this year but were still able to answer questions from potential new students, parents and carers about their qualifications and programme. Well done team. Another fantastic effort from all of you.

What a great place. Excellent food in a lovely intimate setting. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. The price was really good too!

Top quality food, beautiful view and it is so lovely to meet the team at the end of the meal. Extremelly good value and enjoyable.

This was our first visit to the City View restaurant and it won't be our last. The Advent Feast tonight was superb. Delicious food, beautifully cooked and well presented. The third year students produced a set menu of many courses, an Amuse Bouche, then a lovely clear and delicately flavoured consommé, a elegant prawn cocktail, a surprising and refreshing sorbet to cleanse the palate before serving a main course of ginea fowl with roasted vegetables and a delicious jus. Cheese with fresh chutney followed by a rich velvety chocolate mousse with MRI aged cherries and finally gorgeous bakewell mince pies and coffee. The students were presented to us after dinner and circulated round the room talking enthusiastically about the dishes they had prepared for us. Very well done all of you, we will definitely be returning for more of your fabulous food.

Thank you very much for providing our lunch today. Forty of us from CrockenARA ate very well and enjoyed every mouthful. Such talented students - both out front and in the kitchen - we are sure you will all succeed at whatever you go on to do.

It's such a unique experience. Lovely food and service for an unbeatable price but you're also helping young people build skills and confidence. Def recommend. :)

Another great evening of delicious food. Forget Harvester or Toby - once you have tried City View you will not want to eat elsewhere! Fine dining evenings are simply fabulous, really good quality food at such reasonable prices. Lovely views too and you are helping a young person obtain a qualification. Themed nights are amazing - try it; you won't be disappointed.
