Our box office will be closing at 12pm for the Christmas break and the building will re-open on Wednesday 2nd January 2019 at 9am. Tickets will still be available to buy online during this time.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and we will see you in 2019!

Also in 2019 we have some great tribute acts, a night of mediumship and the wonderful Brenda Collins all coming to the Civic Hall stage.

Last night at the Civic Hall, Love Beamish and Stanley filmed their campaign video for South Moor Musical Theatre Group's upcoming show Little Shop of Horrors.
This video captures the essence of the longest running theatre group in Stanley, and with a huge cast of local performers aged 6 to 90 they pay homage to this huge film and West End Musical.

We celebrated our wedding here and have to day Lee and his team are 2nd to none, he couldn't of helped anymore he was an absolute pleasure to deal with, I highly recommended the civic for your wedding or any occasion to be honest absolutely fantastic

Stanley Town Council hosted our Advice in County Durham event in The Civic Hall Stanley..huge thanks to all of the staff who worked tirelessly to make the event a success ..had everything organised for when we arrived nothing was too much trouble ..went to perfection ...genuinely couldn’t have asked for anything more...Well done all of you and thanks!

Ok so my partner and myself got married here on Saturday, from starting to plan this wedding back in May 2016 we've had the most amazing experience. Always informed if I needed something done very eager to help. Our wedding you see wasn't a conventional wedding we had a skull 💀 gothic superhero wedding in mind and the events manager Lee Brannigan has pulled this off in spectacular style. From the tables, top table and the staff who are amazing, we had the most amazing day / evening imaginable so thank you to an amazing team of people. We can't recommend these enough they've really made our dreams come true ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

It's my second home from home I love the place I've been coming here since the age of 7 I'm 31 now I'm also a friend of the lamplight I love the shows that's on also I go to rehearse here :)

I used to go to Open Mic nights there quite a while ago and to be honest it was always a bit of a drab and dull place. Last night I went to see 'Oliver' and both me and my mam were very impressed with the 'new look' of the venue overall, the displays, the attention to detail regarding events, the new cafe etc. I must say, your new Event's Manager Lee, has given the place a new lease of life. Long may that continue! We will definitely return :)

I took my grandchildren on Friday night the age group was from 5-16 this is the first time I have been and I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised....we need to support our local activities or we will loose them.....5 stars from me.

I can't thank the staff enough for their help and support for our big day! They done all they could to make everything flow and the room itself was beautiful. After speaking to Lee I felt really relaxed and knew it was all under control. I didn't have any worries or niggles and it made our night fun and stress free. Highly recommend it for any function, very professional!

First timer in this place, and I was shocked to be honest! The outside is much different from the inside..... It was lovely, and the drinks were very well priced too � the up beat Beatles were great, the room was brill with a good dance floor....

Came to see snow white tonight fantastic show would highly recommend this was our second year in a row and we will be back next year

Been to several shows/do's at the Civic Hall and have been made welcome by Lydia and her bar staff at all times, but today was exceptional for the Mothering Sunday afternoon tea. Greeted by the lovely Lee and a nice chat to make sure everything was ok with us from Claire, the Manager.



Very professional by all involved today, and every other time we have been.



Looking forward to future events being held and more nights with the lovely staff. Thankyou very much for making us welcome.

Been here several times now for Award Ceremonies and live performances and have thoroughly enjoyed every occasion. Very friendly and welcoming staff, well planned out building with good disabled access, cosy coffee shop with homemade cakes/scones etc., bar and free parking very close by. Great venue for all ages and a lot of shows are by local theatre companies who are very professional. I would highly recommend this for a good, fun night out.

Amazing place so spacious and a lovely feel to it and the staff were just lovely can't wait to return. Bucks Fizz were incredible can't wait to see them again.

I've lived in Stanley all my life and this has always been local for me. I have seen the demise and the rise of the Civic. Over this last year or 2 the civic has made huge improvements to the services that it offers & with most things when it's good it's fabulous however when something goes wrong your disappointment drives you to review the service! The Civic Hall failed miserably in letting their patrons know that an event had been cancelled. They had ONE post about this 3 days before the event. Over the next 3 days they went on to share various posts about upcoming events & even on the day of the cancelled event they shared posts of the night before's event. Not knowing of the cancellation I turned up to find the venue empty with only the caretaker near the entrance. When I messaged about this stating my anger of having to pay for a sitter & taxi fare to have to return home without a refund (no one was available to issue this at this time) after a few messages between 'the civic hall' as no names were given in the messages, I was asked for my number & was informed I would be called the following day. 4 days later I still have not recieved a call. For an organisation that has improved in so many areas it still seems to have a lot of work to be done in its customer service.
