Some of our team are in Our Lady Queen of Peace Primary School, NI today hosting our first coding competition using Spheros. The kids have been challenged to build an obstacle course and train their Sphero to navigate it. Good luck everyone!

Our colleagues Liam and Andrew recently attended the Big Data Belfast Hackathon in PWC’s The Hive. Over a 12 hour period, they developed a language detection model using machine learning, trained a number of simpler, focused neural-networks and managed to build a full model that solved the problem for Bazzarvoice. We’re pleased to say they were crowned winners on the night! Congratulations to you both.

Congratulations to our colleague David, who recently completed Deloitte's Cycle Across Britain, cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats in aid of Cancer Research UK.
David managed to finish his challenge in an impressive 9 days, covering 100+ miles a day with some 5000-8000ft of climbing.
In total his team has raised a fantastic £5526.25 for Cancer Research UK.

Civica Digital Ireland’s annual Summer BBQ took place on Friday evening, thankfully the weather brightened up and our guests were able to enjoy a relaxed evening. Our Civica Digital Ireland team, along with their friends and family enjoyed some great entertainment and a fantastic BBQ.

Civica Digital is a cool place to work, but on a hot day even we need some help! So, with the arrival of the Irish summer (finally), our Digital Ireland team got treated to some much needed ice-cream - because life is better with sprinkles!

We're delighted to announce that the winning team was CrEYEm Labs. Colin, Cathan, Andrew and Niall, from Civica Digital Belfast took home the crown with their fantastic project which used Python, Flask & Angular to annotate a 360-degree view photo of a crime scene. The solution allowed annotations to be added to photographs and links made between these annotations and criminal evidence records.
Congratulations to our winners and well done to everyone who took part!

What a fantastic day we had for the Azure Boot Camp in Riddel Hall. Some really interesting discussions from all of the presenters including Paul, one of our Senior Software Engineers from our Belfast office, who hosted a talk on Azure Functions. We are delighted to be involved and hope everyone enjoyed the day.
