Civil Enforcement Officer Description

It is the end of the road for parking attendants as we know them, They are now called "civil enforcement officers" and come complete with new powers - and uniforms - thanks to the Traffic Management Act, introduced today. As a uniformed presence on the streets, they contribute towards the council's aims in terms of combating crime and the fear of crime. They are in radio contact with community wardens, police support officers, dog wardens and resort services staff so can help with incidents and problems around the borough and can also play a part in safety and crime reduction initiatives such as ‘shop watch’. Any physical or verbal abuse of the CEO is recorded, it's serious, and will be reported immediately to the Police. Borough Council will not tolerate abuse of its staff and will take action in all cases.
